How FAIR are EQL raffles? A sneaker discussion

If you've entered any store raffles for sneakers, you'd probably heard of Run EQL, a company striving to make these releases fair with their raffle system. However, are they really fair? And have you got any Ws from them, or have you got Ls, hoping that their 'equalizer' system will mean that your Ls will increase your chances for a W?

Got the orange lobsters and lost and founds late 2022 from eql raffles. So can say that I’ve had my fair share of W’s through eql. But these wins were for in store pickup, and I have probably entered into at least 30 eql raffles for home delivery and have never won. So i believe you always have a much better chance of copping if you enter for in store pickup.

Yeah I think so, all of my Fast Times Ws were in store pick ups, even though it's not my local, it's further down south which means I have a greater chance to cop

I had a look at my EQL history and I have only ever got 1 W. In 2022. Never again since.

when I say iv never had a w i nglect to mention that I am us13 lol so theres probably 3-4 pairs max per run.

Very interesting discussion. Size 12 but have hit on eql. I find I hit better on then than say supply or beyond or highs and lows or lo fi or any boutique stores. I have hit in some like above the clouds and up there, but donuts on a lot of the others. Even stores I have purchased a fair bit from.

Mmmm you have a decent hit rate mate, especially for size 12s. For me, I tend to get a few Ws from Up There and ATC as opposed to others. I haven't hit from Subtype in years though

Eql is good because it blocks raffle bots, company is prob not backddoring much because eql cost $. Right now profits matter so I dont see many companies using it. During good times yeah but not now for sure.

Mmmm that is a good point, I wonder how many stores will cut back now, apparently FT and Nike stores may not use EQL anymore

It's hard to say if they're fair. If they (primarily Footlocker and Fast times in Aus at least) listed stock available for each raffle and entries received for each size (or just the entered for size at least) it would be a lot easier to tell. I'm pretty sure its just Australia has a pitifully low stock allocation and my size 12 demand is artificially increased to an extent by legit entries with the intention to resell. So for something like the Born/Raised SB's/Kobes there might have been something like 10000 entries for a size 12 with maybe 30 pairs available nationwide but just a presumption

True, we'll never truly know if it's really making a difference. You may be right, Australia is always getting the scraps when it comes to sneakers, we'll look at what happens next week but I reckon we're not going to get much Jordan 4 Breds to meet demand (which is already sky high)

Maybe EQL is fair to you as it is an Australian based company and that's your region. But here in the States, when ppl see that it's an EQL raffle, they know they have no shot. As for my standings, I am 1/30 (3%) since 2022. And the only reason why i won that shoe was b/c of all the AMA backdooring fiasco to AP region, which means they had to stop backdooring their own shoes. So if you have +40% winning rate, it's definitely a regional thing. I just wrote to them to complain.

I've hit EQL once - Fast Times with the Pine Green SB4's, but got nothing before and since including when the Nike stores had EQL. I went in for all those really great SB dunks over the last year - the Yutos, Aprils, Orange Lobsters etc and got no where. I've been far more successful in the non-eql raffles, even tho to be honest I feel EQL is probably more fair than the instore ones

Yeah I feel like maybe it's coinciding with more people going for Nike SBs too. Hoping you get some Nike SB Ws this year!

I’m not sure I’ve hit a few of these raffles but I have a lot more losses then wins so I’m not the biggest fan!

yeah that's fair enough! I know only a few US stores are using EQL like AMA, are there any others?
