Welcome to onboard footage of Matt's fastest and most exciting lap in the Peugeot 306 GTi6 during our very first track day at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. As usual you can expect to see; some lift off oversteer, the 'learning of' track limits and a misshift or three!
The 306 did us proud and lapped without skipping a beat. It was awesome to be able to enjoy the track with less traffic and fewer disruptions than you would see on a typical TF day.
We hope you enjoy the video, let us know what you think and if you want to see more hit the subscribe button.
Car Spec:
Intake - standard intake with K&N panel filter
Exhaust - decat, Scoprion catback exhaust
Front suspension - KW coilovers and 2.25 degrees negative camber (machined hubs, standard top mounts)

Front Brakes - 406 Brembo calipers, EBC Bluestuff pads, OE Brembo 206 GTi 180 discs

Well, since I've only been there on Assetto Corsa, and my best time in a 170hp FIAT stilo was 8:35. I know it's not real, but that also means you're not afraid of actually dying so you give it everything in a way most people wouldn't dare in real life. To see someone smash that time in a similar car in real life, knowing how many times I went off at those corners or mis-shifted and ate the gearbox before I even got under 9 minutes (probably about 50 times)... I am impressed.

K, so I've tried this in Assetto Corsa VR, in a Fiat Stilo 170BHP (closest I could find to my chipped Bravo at ~170BHP). I'm pleased to see my lines and gear changes are nearly identical to this guy's (though I am crap at heel&toe), BUT: 1. I wasn't in any danger b/c IT'S NOT REAL. 2. Considering 1, I was still way more cautious than this guy. 3. I crashed about 100 times trying to work out the best lines. 4. I still only managed it in 8:41. So... I am impressed.

That's as fast as one will go around there, you'd need a fair bit more power say at least another 80whp to go faster and make up for the weight of the rollcage. Nice driving young chap and although I can see you really know how to drive your car you're not a magician and parts can and invariably do fail when you least expect them to. For the love of life and those whom are close to you please fit a rollcage to your car, I have absolutely zero doubts in your abilities but I do have my concerns over vehicle parts because they fail each and every day. It's would be a crying shame to see you stolen from the world for the sake of some good steel tubing. You're a talented wheelsman please do invest in protecting that. Great video by the way, (Dan)

You know it's sad to say that but maybe they want to daily drive this car ? Here in France , a stripped car might be legal, coilovers MIGHT be tolerated but once you fit a rollcage , your car won't pass inspection and you cannot legaly drive your car without it , and daily driving a car with no insurance ( because they won't cover you in that case if you're caught into an accident) isn't good either .... so , that said, it's stupid but if they can't afford 2 cars and a trailer to haul the track one then it might be why ...

@@trialsbike2135 let me tell you the 2 official explanations there : 1- your car is no more as the maker sell it so , as you can't produce all the engineering papers to homologate it , it's illegal. 2- In the event of a crash with someone else , as cars are designed to absorb the impact , reinforcing your car with a roll cage reduce the amount your car absorb , leaving the other car absorbing it , resulting in more serious injuries to the other driver. tl:dr the repartition of the damages aren't equal , it's not fair , so here's a law for it. so, here in France basically, i can put a rollcage and ride the streets, i don't think cops will bust me on that (but they can) but if I've an accident with it , the insurance can retract , and you're in for a big trouble, big time, you become the one at fault. They are in the UK but if they have these kinds of laws ...

@@adodoes8770 Pretty much yes. Letting out throttle quick enough to upset/lighten the rear end, which makes it rotate quicker. Most cars have it fairly dialled out in the suspension tuning (and ESC). The Pug GTi's do it pretty easily but its gradual and you can feel what the car is doing.

@@mikeygti8930 I don't get how . When I had a d turbo I lost my shit and cut all the foam out the seat at the side of the road . Still feel way to high after but better . Would bang my knee on the steering wheel every time I break . 106 and saxo are the same . I tried to drive a k11 once that was impossible . Steering wheel right between the knees. But k12 is perfect seat goes really low steering wheel can go right up and back towards you . All french cars feel like whoever designed them has never actually seen a human being to me .

@@HugoAmasing yea, I just got a 306 1.6 sport. Not the fastest car, but man does it handle corners like a champ. This is the first car I havew driven that feels like it's on rails and won't go anywhere you don't want it to go. With that being said i did feel the rear end slip a bit a few times, but that was when changing from a right corner to a left fast or vice versa. All in all an amazing car, idk if I'll ever sell it.
