when i see a trackmania tas, i always expect some crazy uberbugs stuff or something. i can totally see some stuff like a nosebug, into an angled plastic surface, redirecting the momentum upwards, and skipping multiple floors.... this multiple times, and its a 1 minute run sometimes in the future...

But there is no tool for setting the inputs in TM2020 yet. That makes these kinds of tricks much harder to get, since you have to drive it yourself only using savestates. It would probably be possible tho, just takes much more time

@@solidVI cant be that hard to setup a keybind macro. unless TM auto detects and calls BS, a key macro software should do the trick easily enough, problem then becomes finding the spot. Like we see at the end of the video, i think it was more a time issue. He said he didnt want to spend too much time on it.

@@rFey You don't need TM to have bruteforcing tools to actually do any of that. Something as simple as a python script would be enough. Almost every coding language has a way of interacting with your computer and faking an input from a keyboard. TM2020 having integrated TAS tools would make it easier and more fine-tuned but its not necessary at all.

The random generator (RNG) is also deterministic, but we consider it random because of chaos theory - and for all purposes it really is random enough. Same goes for trackmania, it’s only “deterministic” if you don’t take into consideration how wacky its physics are, and combined with chaos theory you get crazy randomness for the smallest deviations.

i feel like my words will age badly, but I don't think there will be a crazier map then deep dip. This already took so many mappers to put together and most of the map won't be driven by 99.99% of the playerbase. For those players who where good enough it seemed torturous to complete. I feel like there is a limit before people just don't bother with maps like these

Your reasons still make sense, and it will be interesting to see what the player experience is like, and whether the limit is just a little further out than you thought or whether there is just something weird that means people keep making harder and harder maps like these.

because tm2020 doesn't have tas tools yet. You can only use save states This map is huge and to do a tas run on it can take ages. Not many are willing to invest that much time on it, especially since the developers have been messing with some core physics lately, so an entire run could be ruined.

I loved this TAS run, it was just so unnecessarily wicked in places. I'm glad my floor 7 skip was used, wild to see it in a full run, even though it a TAS. I think the cut used on Floor 8 is quicker than the other cut as you can just gain the speed without have to turn around. It's what I used to get the record on that floor. I was also surprised that it didn't use either floor 10 skip. Incredible stuff though!

In the description Bux did admit he spent a limited amount of time making it because he was afraid of a game update happening at any point which could break his TAS tool. So suboptimal things in it are quite possibly due to that.
