Refuge Training does an excellent job with scenario based training, and the online training videos are a great component of the training, but teachable moments like this take the understanding to the next level. Yes, please do more teachable moments like this. Thanking you in advance.

I was an EEG tech ("brain wave recordings") for about a decade. Your breakdown of what happened physiologically is likely spot on. I have witnessed, on more than one occasion, a surgeon clamp an internal carotid artery and the what was normal EEG activity went completely flat in that hemisphere. It took only 3-4 seconds. That's the brain trying to protect itself. I'm not sure ANYTHING could help that guy. Even if you stopped the flow out of the "supply side" of the carotid, he'll still be losing blood from "recieving side of the artery (which would be leaking arterial blood from collateral arteries - the vertebrals and carotid on the other side of the neck). Even if he did survive, he could kiss 1/2 his brain goodbye. Great video though! It shows how fast things can go bad. Its WAY better to be somewhere, anywhere, else...

Thank you for your extension of Bob’s information. Between the two of you this is an exceptionally good teachable moment. If any good could come of such a video making internet rounds, this educational review is it.

Yep, it's a very sad situation. Bob, agreed that nothing would have saved him. Fifteen feet is for experienced reaction time or run like the wind, time and distance. Thanks Bob.

And this is exactly why we don't go to our local mall anymore. Crimes so absolutely outta hand there it's closing down losing all those jobs. Don't care how it sounds cause it's true, the same usual suspects have killed that mall, looting raids, robbing anyone from men, women and especially parents with children present to make sure the parents don't resist. Sad Bobinator but valuable wake up calls for folks to see. Saw this video a few years ago. Hits ya in the guts.
