@@joerandell7824 well the first thing I imagined was doing a triple jump and wall jumping off the castle wall, then repeating the process on the underside of the bridge in quick succession. You could also use the wall above the ramp so that way when you will jump off you get a little extra height that you normally wouldn't

@@CaptHayfever I thought about that, but I don't know if you would lose enough health to warrant it although I guess you could also do that in quick succession as long as you jumped almost to the top of the tree every time to maximize how much you've lost.

Thinking about it now, you could even take a massive chunk and skip the lakitu cutscene by triple jumping off the left side of the bridge into a wall jump off the wall

If I'm not mistaken, there's a way you can instantly kill yourself in Mario 2. I believe you pause the game, make an input on the second-player controller, and then Mario will die.

Wouldn't it have been faster to die from fall damage in SM64? Pretty sure the tree to the right of where you start is far enough off the starting ground to made you take damage if you jump from the top (the one on the hill)

if glitches are on the table, you can greatly improve the mario 64 time by using the castle roof. there's a part which counts as OoB and kills mario instantly if climbs up a ledge onto it. otherwise, as other have suggested, fall damage from trees.

I think the Chainchomp in Super Mario 64 can kill you in one hit, if you stand near the fence. I think it will push you in the fence and kill you instantly. At least I think I had it happen to me as a kid.
