Hello, thank you , I was wondering what size of a finish mower in should buy. I have a Solis 26 hp, do you think it will handle a 6feet finish mower to cut land thick grass ? The French man thank you in advance for your advice :)

@TonysTractorAdventure2 жыл бұрын
It does cut good. I ended up selling the mower to a family member after his broke. We will not need it for a bit as we develop this land. I will mow with a flail mower until all the ground work is done and a proper yard is planted.

That’s awesome, somebody with lots of grass to cut should consider that size tractor and finishing mower, it would wear out three or four big box store lawn mowers plus all the other uses of the loader and tractor , another cool video

If you close your eyes, you would not know if you were on a t25 or a t264 in how the transmission works. They are the same transmissions.

i just noticed a goose on your 1/2 ton. what size is your trailer and weight? how do you find it with a 1/2 ton goose vs bumper?
@TonysTractorAdventure3 жыл бұрын
The trailer is 7000. GVW. Because it is s gooseneck, I can transfer about 1200 pounds into the bed just forward of the axle. It rides so much better than a bumper pull. We use it a lot, so it was worth the investment.

Tony I need your help bad. My TYM dealer is the absolute worse in the business. First I was told the tractor would be delivered in 10 days. Then today they tell me maybe not even by the end of the week. They became more backed up because, they used some of their techs to work on a building in their yard. I contacted the owner. (Big dealer too, serves two states) He basically told me he would cancel my order if I wanted to go elsewhere and that once a deal begins bad it usually only gets worse. I can’t believe he emailed me back that! HOLY CRAP! I take it he doesn’t GAF about customers at all. Is there a near equivalent tractor and equivalent price as the TYM 264. I just don’t want to keep moving forward with this dealer.
@TonysTractorAdventure3 жыл бұрын
My friend, I have no control over dealers. They own a franchise and are their own boss. Every brand tractor is like this. I would call and talk over the phone. It is hard to read feelings in an email.

Tony, what is the highest setting on finish mowers? The reason for the question is because I want to mow my pasture feild but I want to mow it at 5-6 inches high.

Yet another example of why flail mowers are the way to go. They throw debris DOWN instead of OUT like a bullet like a rotary/finish cutter/mower
@TonysTractorAdventure2 жыл бұрын
I agree. We no longer have this mower.
@WaldenSpawn2 жыл бұрын
What happens when a flair mower hits a boulder? I have several in my 15 acre field and as hard as I try to avoid them almost every time I hit one or two and it doesn’t hurt my bush hog.
@TonysTractorAdventure2 жыл бұрын
Hitting a boulder most definitely hurts a conventional rotary cutter. It takes big chunks out of the blade. It causes the blade to become off-balance. It cuts like crap after hitting and will ruin the gearbox bearing very fast if you keep mowing without replacing the blade. It is quicker and cheaper to replace only the damage cutters on the flail mower. I never recommend mowing rocks. 😁
@Noah_E2 жыл бұрын
@@WaldenSpawn Since the blades are independent and not hard mounted to the drum they deflect out of the way with minimal damage. Especially if they are Y blades because they are so light. Worst case scenario if you are using heavy hammer blades and sat there letting them beat against a boulder you might wear the end enough to require replacement. But they are cheaper and easier to replace than a brush hog blade.
@WaldenSpawn2 жыл бұрын

So my dad is about to buy 5 acres and a house. Would you do the finish mower over a zero turn. I was gonna let him use my 22 pto hp Mitsubishi tractor.
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
If mowing is all that will be done, a zero turn will mow much faster. If you want to till the garden, move some dirt, clear some brush, etc. after you mow, then a tractor all the way.
@Atreyas Жыл бұрын
Don't know if you've already made the purchase or not, but I'll throw my $0.02 in anyway if it may help someone else. I purchased a farm that had about 4 acres I have to mow, 12 when I do my pasture. Initially I bought a 60" zero turn, and loved it.. aside from all the times I got it stuck, which was often, since my property is somewhat hilly, and I have a pond with sloped banks (ZTs are absolutely worthless on grass that is remotely damp, and on a hill). It still did the job, but I was cussing it at some point every time. Recently I purchased an older Ferguson 35 and picked up a 72" finish mower.. I absolutely love it. It may not be faster, though it could be if I were comfortable in a higher gear, but it's.. easier. Zero turn you're constantly pushing/pulling the sticks.. tractor is set and forget, turn the wheel every now and then. It's more cumbersome getting into tight places, but can do most of them, I'm more confident with it around the edge of my pond, and it's great in the flat areas as I can just sit back and let it go. I still use both, as the zero turn is great for zipping around the fences and trees, but the tractor cuts the majority (wife can also run the ZT if she wants while I'm on the big guy).
