30 years ago when I was a child, I traveled to Chongqing from Chengdu every year during the chinese new year. It was very slow and took one night. You get on board in the evening and arrive the next morning. If u miss the train u have to wait for the next round another day. About 20 years ago it was upgraded to 4 hours, 10 years ago 2 hours, now it's about 1 hour. China has been developing so fast everyday when u wake up u get something new.

I am a Canadian born Chinese, visited Changsha, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Guangzhou last year for travel and a wedding. Though my ancestral home is in the Guangzhou area, my first love is definitely Chengdu. I love 川菜 the most (sorry 湘菜), the chill laid-back atmosphere, and the city so much. Did I mention that Chengdu girls are probably the prettiest? ;) I hope to live there someday. Watching these videos makes me miss China so much. I can't wait to visit Chengdu again when the pandemic is over.

China is very smart to invest heavily on trains then air transportation. This helps a lot in transporting tons of medical stuffs during pandemic. it is a much lower cost and a lot more in quantity as compared to planes. In military context it is also a huge advantage.
