@@mrmist3763the thing is, most woman don’t actually have their career as gaming. Most women dominate other jobs, and others just do not enjoy gaming altogether. Even famous women streamers who game do not take it seriously, which is obviously why women do not make it on the list for top gamers. It’s not because women are bad at gaming, it’s just a genre that men tend to gravitate towards and take it more seriously.

My mum used to be a hard core gamer, she dedicated hours of her time into getting to the highest levels of gaming, in fact she had to quit because gaming was consuming her life. But here's the thing, the game she was so committed to was called Family Barn, a role play game where you pretend to run a farm. Another game that she was committed to doing really well in was Nintendogs, a game where you care for virtual dogs.

I remember in elementary school we had a social awkward kid in class. So the teacher made a draw the straw system and whoever straw was drawn had to play with him for recess. Turning an unpopular socially awkward kid into a chore and a punishment to play with. I remember being 7 and thinking how messed up this was, but also didn't want to play with him because he was now a complete outcast and that would leach on to me. I know it sounds bad now, but when your a kid school can be brutal. The teacher turning this kid into a draw the straw chore was a horrible idea. Kid eventually changed schools and honestly it was for the best. There was no coming back from that.

I grew up in a family of very competitive card and board game players, my mother perhaps most cutthroat of all in the card games, and I gather her parents were hardcore card players so that's where she learned it. My parents never let us win at any games, and we didn't really play any games as a family that were purely chance-based, there was always a fair bit of skill involved in anything we played. It made me a very skilled player in lots of games, eventually spreading to video games too when I got into those, because I had a very competitive mindset. When I did beat my parents at something, it was really meaningful. I remember in particular the first time I beat my dad in chess, after probably a hundred or more games after first teaching me the game, totally without mercy as I had to figure out how to win. I never got frustrated, or lost interest. I understood that the game was hard, that my dad was trying his best, and anything I got out of the game, I'd earned. I've since surpassed him completely, he can never win against me now because I've since gone on to actually study the game, and I've realized he was never actually that good at it, just more experienced with a lot of beginner strategy. If he had let me win, even once, I know I would have never developed a real love for the game, I never would have kept playing it as I got older, and I never would have studied the game and learned how to play it at a pretty decent club level in adulthood. I never would have gone on to bond over the game with other people in my family, teaching them the game. I'm pretty good at card games, too, because of my mom, and I approach every video game I play with the same cutthroat attitude of doing whatever it takes to win.

Relaxation doesn't have to come from doing something calming. Catharsis comes from many sources, and the two he seems are triumph- the rush and fall from having succeeded at something challenging or complex- and stress release- where you deliberately strain yourself and then return to your base state, with the experiential difference being identical to actually relaxing without truly loosening up. The latter is actually a great thing to do with muscles. Properly relaxing them can't reasonably be done whenever, but you can do stuff like tightly clenching your fist and then releasing it.

But the reason I chose not mention I'm a woman when playing live most of the time had NOTHING to do with getting "mean comments" lol it was mostly because when guys (especially socially starved ones) realize a woman is playing with them.... they will go out of their way to "defend me", or give me "handicaps", setting the standards lower for me etc. Basically they gave me privileges I did not want. I am a woman and when I was younger my friends were mostly male. I still typically enjoy the company of men. However, my mom taught me a long time ago that men need their spaces. Men need time to go be with the guys and do guy things. Just like I like to go out and do girl things with my female friends. I do not understand this feminist obsession with men and women having to share all spaces equally. I also don't get when couples do the same thing and they act as though they have to share everything and like all the same things. That's just not reality Men and women often like different things and there's nothing wrong with that.

You know what contributes to male work related deaths? The fact that young men goof around on the job so often. Was working on a roof and guys were tossing tools at one another, shoving each other, joking around, and rocketing up and down the ladder with no concern for safety. When you tell them to knock it off, you're a ballbuster. Young men are friggen dumb, especially those in labor positions. I was on that roof too, you think I was pulling that crap? They also skip personal protection like masks, shields, etc, because it's a little inconvenient or too hot. Never had a girlfriend that didn't shut up and listen when I told her to wear her n95 and some gloves, and to watch her fingers around a chop saw. Men cut corners because they get comfortable. So no, I never had to ask why there are so many male related work deaths because I've actually worked in male related fields, and y'all are dumb. May not bc PC but it's true.

As a society we need to start conversations with "Do you want validation? Or do you want an honest opinion?" Sometimes people need emotional support to not give up or keep trying new methods. Sometimes people need brutal (but kindly delivered) honesty that what they are attempting is just impossible for them. There are no blind racecar drivers. There are no mute opera singers. There are no double amputed handed dentists. You CAN'T do or be ANYTHING you put your mind to. Refusing to accept limits is foolish. And for people around them to refuse to acknowledge non-overcomable obstacles is cruel. We need to stop lying to everyone and teaching children to lie to themselves. It hurts everyone, creates more problems than it solves and sets people up for failure they feel they can't recover from. It's not true support when you ensure nobody wins.

I remember back in the ps2 gc xbox days, early 2000s. There was this xbox video with some dork talking about gaming on the xbox, and of course online play was a big part of it, which meant that they did mention how people do a little sh;t talking... just like anywhere else. It was normal. I remember playing online myself over the years, mostly you hear annoying ass kids talking so I usually muted everything. But if i was doing good in a game, i wanted to hear the anger, it meant i was doing something right. Basically if you're that traumatized by what people say in online games, either you really suck (and can mute), or you're pathetic and fragile and need a spine (and can mute). Otherwise if you're an even average player in most games you get people asking you to join their clan. Usually annoying ass kids. If you're good then pros might show interest and they don't care who you are. Feminists are idiots

It really is interesting how different male banter is from how women talk. I was raised by a single mother, almost exclusively around women. Only had a few male friends in high school, but many female friends. I interpreted male banter as just being malicious, I never assumed that the person was joking, just that they hated me. I was playing Team Fortress 2 three years ago and I forget exactly what happened but I was doing decently well and a guy on the other team called me a retard or something. We stayed in the lobby for a few more matches and eventually added each other because we were both decent at the game. I've talked to him frequently for the past 3 years now. He's my closest online friend, and my introduction to him was him calling me a retard and me saying something back to him. Because it wasn't motivated by hatred or anything, it was just typical banter. No ill-will, just a typical competitive attitude.

"I don't understand why [pandering to women and saying they can't succeed on their own] doesn't make them furious." Yes you do. You know exactly why those gamer girls are okay with this: they DON'T WANT to be competitive and succeed on their own. They want the money and accolades of being the best without having to work for it. They saw how much those "loser guys" that play video games all day were getting for it, figured it looked easy (it's just playing video games, anyone can do that), found out it's actually hard to be good at it, and now want the difficulty removed because they only got into it for the money and fame. It's the same in everything: when women outcompete men, they are strong women and men need to either get better or move on. When men outcompete women, it's misogyny and unfair to women, so the rules need to change to accommodate.

They'll literally intentionally throw games because there's a woman on their team, and a majority of the time it's not because of performance. My gf has been called a "boosted egirl" numerous times when when she's either hard carrying or mid fragging. While when someone is toxic to me in a ranked game, it's either because I'm already tilted and performing poorly or because I called them out on their performance. You don't see a problem with that?

They CAN'T hide their gender. Even in spaces that are designed specifically for anonymity they feel the urge to announce that they are female, because they know that alone is enough to guarantee instant attention, and at the end of the day, the attention they get from doing things with other people is more rewarding to them than the activity itself. Look at the number of comments in this video alone where people simply MUST add "btw I'm a woman,' or "speaking as a woman," etc. to their comment. Why do you think they do that?

As a female, I gotta say this: gender-based harassment is WAAYYY more rare than these feminists make it seem. They keep speaking about all this "every day" and "all the time" nonsense. And I've seen men (who are trying to be considerate) give in to the bullsh*t. I game all the time, it's practically my life outside my real life. I play mainly Valorant these days. And being harassed for being a women has happened only a handful of times. And not once have I ever witnessed another woman be harassed for being female either. Targeted harassment in gaming hardly qualifies as an issue women are facing. These feminists are just sensitive crybabies trying to ruin an industry I love. I've seen videos where female gaming influencers talk about how so many women are scared to talk in voice chat because they're worried their team will harass them for being a girl. Bull. F*cking. Sh*t. This scenerio almost NEVER happens in reality (but then again, maybe it happens more often in the games that I don't play, idk). If you're a female and scared of being bullied by your team for being a girl, that's YOUR problem and YOUR insecurity. It isn't indicative of an issue with the community or the environment. You're just pathetic. I don't wish for more female representation in gaming, nor do I wish to see the competitive gaming world become swarmed with women. Trust me, every community or environment I've been in that was female-dominated has been the most unpleasant, unhappy, toxic place I've had to endure. So many of those women think they are the most important person in the world, and that everyone needs to cater to their needs. To all the females (looking at you, feminists) who think the gaming industry/community needs to be more inclusive, welcoming, and "safe" for women, respectfully F*CK OFF. Like seriously, if you feel so uncomfortable playing competitive games as a woman, maybe think about going away and doing something else. Because this hobby clearly isn't for you. Edit: To clarify, when I say "gender-based harassment," I'm talking about harassment that happens specifically due to your gender (which is very rare). Everyone gets harassed in gaming. That's not a gender issue. What I mean is that feminists will act like they're being targeted BECAUSE of their gender and not as just normal online shit talk.

The story of VaeVictus, an all-female team that got into the major League of Legends tournament for no reason other than being born into the right gender, teaches us a valuable lesson. No amount of the most preferential treatment in recorded history of major E-sports events (for that time, at least), no amount of organizers handicapping your opponents and punishing them for bogus reasons, will prevent you from record-breaking ritualistic humiliation, no matter how privileged you are, if you simply aren't fit for the task. E-sports is still one of select few industries where merit rules above all, and until that drastically changes, players who put in time and effort will keep running circles around players who were handed everything on a silver platter.

Female here! This video about the gaming industry has a lot of parallels with the current tattoo industry. Especially here on the west coast of the US. There were probably 2 men with 15 females at the tattoo “school” I attended, and half of those women would loudly cry every day about how they’re so happy they are removing/replacing men from the industry and making it a “safe space” for everyone. I wanted to pull my hair out and I did everything I could to stay away from that raucous crowd. But these new types to the industry are obsessed with “women empowerment!” And “women deserve this industry more than men! The men in tattooing are so mean!” I’m seeing so many parallels here and frankly, I hate this.

Our culture condones toxic pathological behavior in the name of “empowerment”. We are going in a bad direction

another reason not to get a tattoo... nothing like being permanently marked by someone whose goal is to "show up men" rather than know what they're doing.

Yet most people who get tattoos are emotionally damaged in some way.

Makes sense that the whole tattoo culture/industry would attract the filth of society.

I have never felt safe in woman dominated spaces. I've never been good at backhanded talk and all that bullshit. I grew up in a very rough way and have been homeless, I have a dark sense of humor and I feel for boys who think all girls are toxic because girls I have relied on in the past have done some of the most evil shit to me. I'll add here that I am a girl and this is still the case but I really wish gender was irrelevant to everything. But girls who rag on all men universally and think women's spaces are 100% better all the time are 200% toxic always.
