That whole narrative doesn't make any sense. Ronaldo is way more marketable then Messi in a lot of ways... therefore It wouldn't make any sense for FIFA to favour Messi. Let's be honest here.. Ronaldo has practically everything needed, in order to be the "poster-boy" of the whole organization. Throw in the fact that Ronaldo only ever played for the biggest and most successful clubs in Europe at the height of their success, while having their systems built around him his entire career, definitely contributed towards some stat padding. He probably would have been the face of FIFA for the next 100 years, but there was only one problem... Messi existed. To claim Messi is FIFA made is beyond insane. Just look at Spain for example, Real Madrid were successful before and after Ronaldo left.. Ronaldo also played a very dirty game in Europe and was known for diving in the box, something Messi rarely ever did. Messi was able to work his way into a world cup final in 2014 and 2 other Copa America finals only to just fall short.. doesn't really sound like the result you'd expect from someone labled "FIFA's favourite" does it? He then went back to the drawing board and redeemed himself by winning two Copa America titles and the 2022 world cup. Messi has earned his place anyone who thinks otherwise is either blind or deluded. It's okay to like Ronaldo. He's great. but let's not create false narratives.
