Yay Crystal! Final Destination 2 will always hold a special place in my heart…in January of 2003, a bunch of us from the Fangoria message boards met for the first time (including me and my wife) at the Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors convention. One of the biggest draws on the guest list was pretty much the entire cast of Final Destination 2. Met them all and had em sign some FD 2 posters and mini-posters. They were all super cool and Ali Larter was a sweetheart. But yeah; Final Destination 2 (along with House of 1000 Corpses and Cabin Fever) was the big title everyone was buzzing about. I even remember seeing the early teaser trailer for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

All my life, I’ve never wanted to fly. After Final Destination, I still never want to fly. I believe the safest time to fly is immediately after a plane crash because you never hear of two major plane crashes happening back to back.

Log to the face will always be one of if not the best kills in the franchise. No joke, one time I was riding my car behind a pickup truck that had so many metal poles and it gave me flashbacks of the second movie.

I always avoid log trucks if I can in traffic. Especially my mom always told me 2 get past big rigs cuz they can't see behind them when I was learning 2 drive so jus a rule I always follow anyways but yea big rigs I try n pass when I can lol thx movie watched this at my friend's house on satellite dish back in the day.

Fun fact: logs don't bounce like that, they had to use cgi to get the scene to look right. They had trouble with the logs coming off the trailer because they would just hit the ground and roll. Now what is terrifying is if you are beside the truck and the logs roll off it would crush you inside your car.

TRUE REAL LIFE FINAL DESTINATION STORY: I was at a water park in 2019 and I was going up stairs to a huge covered tunnel water slide. As I was going up the stairs I could feel the stairs shake everytime someone went down the slide above me. About halfway up I noticed water dripping from a portion of the slide where 2 pieces were bolted together, then someone went down and the slide shook and I realized one of the bolts on that section was partially unbolted. It was at this time the song playing on the parks xm radio channel ended and a new song started. The new song was "KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE" by queen!!! Thanks to seeing all the final destination movies I decided I'd carry my azz back down the stairs and opt out of the water slide of imminent deeeath!

I'm sure someone already mentioned this, but in FD3 there's a scene at the end where a piece of newspaper tumbles across a subway platform and if you pause it and read it, it reports that Kimberly got pulled into a wood chipper and as did Burke while trying to rescue her. Unfortunately, they didn't get away.

Personally my favorite will always be the original. I went into that movie blind so that plane explosion shattering the airport windows really caught me off guard first watch as a kid. Devon Sawa’ acting was top notch and imo the best leading protagonist in the series. Part 2 is still awesome tho 🔥 Can’t drive on a highway next to big trucks without thinking about that opening scene 😱

I feel like Final Destination checked a lot of boxes when it comes to those little fleeting thoughts of fear we all have in the back our minds. Driving on the highway and see one of those logging trucks, everybody has the thought of "What if one of those logs falls off in the middle of traffic?!". There's also the elevator scene. I would think most people have the subconscious thought an elevator ride going wrong every time they step into one. There's a scene were a car airbag kills someone. We all know that airbags can fuck you up. The movie shows it to us it all its glory. Walking out of a building while construction work is going on can spark a certain nervousness in people. The movie has a pane of glass fall a crush a kid. Final Destination 2 is a masterclass in phobia exposure.

So many iconic scenes in the franchise in FD 2. The log truck, pane of glass, air bag, & elevator scenes are all top notch. My favorite is the fence scene with Rory.

Ah Final Destination. Like Resident Evil I watched the first one, then dismissed the others as silly cash grabs. Like Resident Evil I grabbed the box set in 2024 and enjoyed the hell out of them, for what they were anyway. Not exactly high art but watchable popcorn fun. The way the logs bounce and move in that scene is 100% fake. That's just basic Physics. So much, they did test shooting to see what would happen, and it was very disappointing. Everything in the accident wouldn't have gone down like it does in the movie.
