Old info on the video on energy (it does say 2021). Finland had plans in place for all this "renewable/clean energy" as part of the EU wide cleaner energy thing that's supposed to happen soon(tm), and with Ukraine war and Russian energy imports stopping, those plans were simply accelerated. As the result Finland is now fully energy self sufficient, and wood and peat burning has gone down substantially as an energy source. Electricity prices aren't terrible, and depending on your contract you may have days, or nights more likely, when its "free" to use. (You do still pay for energy transfer, to a different company most likely, and obviously those contracts may momentarily result in very high kilowatt-hour prices too.) Obviously we DO still trade energy with Norway and Sweden, because it simply makes sense: When Finland has lots of wind and rains that last for weeks, more water than fits in the reserves, we run our 200 hydroelectric power plants at higher production and sell cheap energy to Sweden and Norway, and of course they do the same. That's what affects the hourly prices too (Price regulation is also the result of, and mandatory for network balancing but that's a whole different technical topic). 👍

Eh, if you look up what seemingly made Finland to be World's Happiest Country it is UN World Happiness Report and if you look up the questions in the questionaire that leads to it, it is more of a contentedness report than happiness report and that is why the most mediocre country of all is a winner because everyone else is even a tiny bit off to either end of the spectrum and that is bad for contentedness.

The negatives is kinda because we have that "Free healthcare" people are more likely to seek help. The issue is also massive welfare abuses (kinda) where people basicly give care of their life to the country instead of even trying to get job, mostly because they either have criminal backgroud or poor education background meaning that job opportunites would only increase their income compared to social welfare for couple hundreds. So when theres plenty of welfare money to spent and nothing to do in life people end up getting drunk/high with their welfare money. And working class is quite burnt out as they pay high taxes and pensions over that and cannot achieve their dream of own houses and such. Out of that 5.5m people 500 000 who are on working age are unemployed after all so the burden is on small group of people and their income.
