@@bonzo6926 There's tons of similar words between our languages, my man. And it always puts a smile on my face. For example, in Finnish: Batman is Lepakkomies (Lepakko = bat, mies = man), so as soon as I saw "Nahkhiirmees", I deducted it means Batman. Nahk = nahka in Finnish, hiir=hiiri. Hence "leather mouse man" :D Also, "Bemmi kummid" was a viral music video success in Finland., because we understood the chorus without speaking Estonian.

FACT: Finnish baseball was invented to train and prepare soldiers for Finnish Army. Thanks to baseball Finns were fit and tough for Soviets in the Winter War . Baseball which was one of the main sport in the school taught young kids how to throw grenades, how to take cover and dive into foxholes and trenches and kept them physically in a good shape.
@Mistermies Жыл бұрын
FACT: that was more of a marketing thing to get suojeluskunta (finnish militia 1918-1944) excited about it. Getting young men into this new sport was a key thing to make it succeed. It wasn't really invented for military purposes, but selling it this way was a win-win situation.
