The hymn became beloved by presidents and influential figures alike. There are stories of its singing at the deathbed of Andrew Jackson and the funerals of Robert E. Lee and Theodore Roosevelt. One powerful story comes from the midst of the Spanish-American War. In an army encampment near Havana, Cuba, on Christmas Eve in 1898, a band from one regiment struck up the tune, and before long, the whole of the army gathered there had joined in the chorus of singing this hymn.

Beautiful, wonderful! Just listened to the Mormon Tabernacle sing a rendition and thought "how sad!" They even sing scripture, but deny the power of the One ("I and the Father are one") who is the firm foundation!

I love how you put these wonderful hymns in a calm yet modern level. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the traditional instruments for the hymns (organs/ orchestras), but it's really cool to hear the electric guitar and keyboard with these hymns too! It's how theologically sound songs will come to my generation. May God bless! 👏

Sorry, there's nothing really wrong with it, I just prefer traditional versions of hymns. Don't "update" things or "make them your own". Because they aren't.

Let the lord use them. I literally prayed for God to reveal songs that are scripture based to me and I found this song. I listened to the original and there is no way I would add the original to my playlist. The Lord answered my prayer through this song. So just bc it’s not for you doesn’t mean it not for others. If you don’t like the remake just go listen to the original ❤

@@5treimonenq yeah, I think that's why I was so upset. After spending more time than I had to spend, and being disappointed every single time, I was never able to find the arrangement I grew up with - which, since I'm kind of old, I expected was the "traditional" version. I'm glad if God uses this music to touch people.
