Only remember that real memories not only use capacitor but MOSFETS, a Solid State device, it does the same than Capacitora only that is more durable and miniaturizable because has not liquids inside it.

Hi, thanks for this simple presentation. To go further you can now categorize the memory: ROM RAM SRAM DRAM EEPROM... What you are showing is the working principle of the DRAM Dynamic Random Acces Memory and it is volatile, if you release the power you will lose all the data. Flash memory is an EEPROM NAND or NOR gates based. This memory holds the data in the absence of the power supply.
@markarthur1083
@markarthur1083 2 жыл бұрын
Didn't he release the power? He connected each capactior to the battery to charge them and removed it and was still able to read the data at a later stage. My understanding is that the capacitor can hold the data for an extended period of time. Maybe i'm missing something, please elaborate
@Dreamington_
@Dreamington_ Жыл бұрын
He cannot read data after reading once... Hence it's volatile and loses data..

That's a clear explanation! Are there ways to prevent the voltages dissapting every time we read them? Or are they just really small?
@subhajitsamanta612
@subhajitsamanta612 3 жыл бұрын
No, instead of capacitors, practically charge trap flash memory cell (a special type of dielectric cell which can store different levels of electrons for a very long time, nearly a few years) is used in SSDs but the theory of storing data is very much similar to a capacitor described in video. And the micro controller attached with it measures and maintains the level of charge trap, until you edit or erase the data. This micro controller also loads a volatile copy of the data in cache when we access it in a device and send feedback to system for charge tap level control. In modern SSDs one memory cell can store 3-4 level of charges,i.e., a single cell is equivalent to 3 or 4 bit memory, an array of such cells along with micro controller and suitable I/O connecting Interface make a total SSD.
