Me too FP allowed me to continue coaching wrestling and recover from a number of injuries I had acquired during my career. The concepts I learned have also helped me be a more effective coach in teaching the mechanics of wrestling.

Yeap, 7 years ago I was seriously thinking about buying a cane, and I could see myself in a wheelchair after a few years... I'm still not perfect, but oh my god, I think I can fully recover with time. I can play sports, run, and walk for long periods of time without pain! Functional Patterns saved my life also!

Can’t wait to watch FP grow within the wrestling community. Like all paradigm shifts it’s gonna be harsh for the ones who stay attached to old methodologies. I’d imagine when John smith started hitting low singles the status quo coaches downplayed the innovation. I’m sure when Ben askren and Cael started implementing far ankle scrambles, body cradles etc. status quo coaches wanted to write it off as “funk” and non technical or say it was “strength” and not an organized system of positions. We’re now seeing (in the US) the outside step start to overtake the traditional penetration step. There’s many more examples but these things stick because they work. FP is going to be the “strength” and “recovery” replacement to all the traditional methods like lifting, pull ups, rope climbs etc. some coaches will hold onto that and be left in the dust by other coaches and athletes who have the foresight to implement what actually works! And it won’t just replace the training side it will actively add to the already growing innovation rampant in American wrestling. It will extend careers, prevent injuries, and lead to even more creativity and fun in the practical application of teaching and learning the best sport in the world.

Great podcast…thanks for getting Naudi on. The info about educating kids who are starting to get into any sport is spot on! Although I believe no child should specialise in a sport before about 15, learning about the most fundamental movements of walking, running, standing & throwing as part of a curriculum at school or home is way more important than just learning a “sport”. However, getting involved in multi-modality sports are great - Athletics, Gymnastics, MMA, Boxing, Surf Lifesaving (I’m in Australia), Cricket/Baseball… I have quite a few young kids (5-17 years) as clients & giving them an education in Anatomy (including Anatomy Trains) is part of our training. One of my 12 yr old scoliosis patients now wants to “do what Dani does!” when she grows up. 😊 Thanks guys 👍🏽🔥

I've been thinking lately, that reductionism/refactoring in mathematics is a common way to reach to new fundamentals. The momento you remove things but you can still see the machinery working, you simplify the perception you had of the system

Agree with everything. I’d argue this for a kid though….. functional patterns mimic what we do as kids. If our kids are constantly outside, playing a variety of things.. riding bikes, playing handball or wallball (reaction time), ping pong, all sports… force it or let it come naturally but that’s what will set the body up for success. If as a parent you do that, and add in massage… then chiropractic at a later age… then you’re golden…. As a starting point

Who is FP meant for? Is it meant for someone who has gone through injuries or is it meant for young athletes with no athletic background? Would appreciate a response on this

It's meant for any human, young or old, no matter their level of athleticism. I'm an Amazon Delivery driver and fp has been invaluable in addressing the dysfunctions that cause me pain

You can do anything with it. For me the first phase was to fix my body to move painfree. Once you achieve that ofcourse you can go further. Its just the question of what do you want to achieve and how much time and effort are you wanting to put in. right now i play table tennis. And i do FP max once per week to stay 100% painfree

Kyle has looked less explosive. He was dominant at 79kg, but has looked less than his ideal self at 74kg. Is he cutting too much weight?
