How does keeping the Megakaryocytes moving lead to them making even more platelets? I know this isn't a technical video, but this really was glossed over.
@adiabd1
@adiabd1 3 жыл бұрын
my guess is, by moving them, the megakaryocytes got stimulated by more nutrients per surface area
@teaklee6

This may help: platelets are fragments of the megakaryocytes.

Im a little confused, this video report went from discussing how a blood shortage is encouraging the development of synthesized blood to: they can make platelets. Platelets and blood are two very different things. Humans can donate platelets much more often then blood, however it requires a special machine that isnt available at most blood drives. Since the video doesnt bother to discuss the second half of this subject, I guess we have to just assume theyll fix the blood shortage another way

You might not know this but a number of people would give anything to have this. As the narrator stated, there's a blood shortage going around. This might not see much, but just having the option would help a lot of people

Why people stop donating blood? Simple, because even though they donate for free. You still need to buy it in the hospital if you needed it.
@dmarl1042

The "raw material" is free. But you need to maintain the facility and people that ensures the safety of the donor, the blood is "clean" and kept properly, etc
