@@NoobWonderWaffle Yes, leveling up gave you some feeling of achievement and exclusivity in past gears ganes. When you reached level 100 in gears 2 you felt badass. You could also unlock characters as you leveled up. Gears 5 levels make no sense and gives you no sense of accomplishment. Gears 4 had cases that you could unlock, which was more interactive and fun compared to gears 5 credit system. When you re-uped in older games you were also actually rewarded with cool staff rather than the nonm-memorable shit that gears 5 gives you.

@@NoobWonderWaffle gears 5 is very new player friendly. There is a ton of aim assist in gears 5 compared to other gears. It is also easier to wallbounce in gears 5. I do like how smooth the gameplay on gears 5 is. Each gears has it own unique style so its hard to compare, but I do prefer the lower input lag and smoothness of gears 5. I think its worth getting an Xbox to play the campaigns. they are legendary....much better than gears 5

As someone who played the tech test and thought the game wasn't very good then, I found it very confusing when many esports players/coaches said it felt like the best title in the franchise. I didn't purchase the game on launch and shelfed the franchise as a whole. Fast forward 6 months later, everyone is hating on the game and thinks it's terrible - with the exception of some of the highest performing pros (possibly due to performance). Give me Gow2 movement and guns. Give me Gow3/J medals. Give me progressive character unlocks. Give me new maps - bringing classics are lazy in my opinion. Give me Gears of War.

@@KlekoMleko I like how Gears 4 Horde had specific roles for each player. For example, the role of the scout was to collect energy, the engineer was to deploy fences/turrets, and so on. In higher difficulties of Horde (Insane and Inconceivable) this encourages team work. This is lacking in Gears 5 and makes it less fun for me. Leveling up your character in Gears 4 Horde was straightforward too. There was no need to change this for Gears 5.

Legit the only reason I played Gears 5 at all was to play co-op campaign, which actually was hella fun and hilarious only because we spent the whole time trolling each other, the story is random AF. Got masters in every playlist on KBM and controller in less than 3 months, did it again when they changed to leaderboards and just got nothing out of it; shit is soulless. Horde is passable but most of the maps suck and only a few classes are actually fun. Escape is chalked. They stuffed 800 goddamn microtransactions in the store and just milked this shit for all it's worth, giving nothing of substance back for it. I can count on two hands the number of actually cool skins, which i wouldn't mind paying the 2.50/5.00 USD or whatever they want to charge.

Ofc this comment isn’t a video like you asked. But the knife lunging is problematic because a) the range, b) the ease of use. Let’s play a scenario. You’re the better player. You’re playing good gears. We are in a strafe fight. You’re smart and holding your shot for chunk range. I just get into that range and as you’re about to shoot. I press B, lunge at you. It makes you miss your shot due to the animation you make, and before you recover from that animation, I can already shoot again. Thus hitting my shot and killing you. That’s the problem with it. Why would even try and use your brain. Or push your mechanics when I can press b. One. Button. In older gears. Yes you can melee and achieve a similar thing. But it wasnt this lunging lock on. To melee in older games it was risky. You could potentially get out bounced and you’re a sitting duck if you do it at the wrong time

One other thing I hated when 5 launched was the grind for characters. We could only grind for 1 character at a time using those tokems or whatever they were called. At least in the older games, we could work on unlocking multiple characters/weapon skins all at once by just playing the game. Also they did have a map creator for Escape at launch. But I believe they got rid of it because people were making the smallest maps possible to help farm Escape objectives for the ToD and xp

I don’t think the campaign was THAT bad. It lacked the charm and character of the original trilogy, but it was a big step up from 4’s campaign. The characters don’t really get any development, and there wasn’t any focus. The whole first part of 5 looks like it’s actually gonna give JD some development and it actually could of been really interesting. The whole thing of him trying to prove himself and live up to his fathers legacy, despite not really being close to him when he was growing up, and then they sideline him after act 1 and now Kait is the focus… What?… Doesn’t make any sense. Gears 5 should’ve been about father and son. Was it Anya’s passing that soured their relationship? Why did JD join the COG? What happened between Marcus and JD? There’s so much you could’ve played with to actually make a compelling story with characters having actual arcs. The whole origin of the locust thing doesn’t need to be in gears 5. Hell, you could put it at the beginning of the new E-day game as a prologue act to then lead into the Locust being born, becoming independent, growing their society, and then eventually invading to escape the lambent. Damn, man… so much wasted potential

8:02 TC seems to just not care about Leaderboards at all. Some of my friends invested many hours into competing for #1 Escape score runs. Then a glitch was discovered on PC, where you can use 3rd party apps to lag and then pick up infinite cog tags. It requires no skill but they get 10x better scores than those who actually worked for it, so they dominate the #1 spots with absurd times. There's also all the versus stats, that for some reason count Co-Op vs AI. So the worst PvP players in my friends list that only play that for Daily objectives have way better stats than the PvP sweats. Nice video, lots of good points I really hope TC listens to. The gib range on the Gnasher is also absolutely atrocious in Gears 5, you can literally shoot someone in kissing range and the shot will say 84%. I also hate how aiming with the Gnasher in Gears 5 is pretty much pointless since the pellets don’t even hit the guy, I don’t understand why they made the pellets spread out while aiming.

From someone who grinded gears 1 to 5. Played GBs, UMGs. The 2k weekly tournaments with gears 4 n 5. Pick ups, scrims, everything I still cannot wait for gears of war EDay. But i wont lie, gears 5 almost ruined the franchise. Kait is the worst protagonist, the multi-player is way to inconsistent 83%, bot walking is extremely annoying, to many RNG options with horde (cards) Single stick ruined comp, button mapping ruined Alt movement. To many modes. We need just control, Execution, FFA, 2v2. TDM is not a gears mode, escalation is ass. Unlocking was so bad, it didnt FEEL like we earned anything, gears 3 had the best unlock system, best medal system. The maps were okay. We need to stop having a comp n casual setting with weapons. Lancer needs to be weaker. I love this franchise to death, i have faith for gears of war EDay.

It was a really good video! I do agree with a lot of details you cover, the costumization, story and the lack of content at launch (which is supposed to be better than the last game on its launch). For my personal view, i thought escape was a very good addition, but executed poorly. I really enjoyed the survival aspect of it and the teamwork you had to put to get out as fast as possible. I actually was playing that more than horde because horde was more of the same as gears 4 but with a lot of restrictions. But it got worse since one of some things you said happened, people were using it as an exp boost exploit and not playing the correct way, i always got into sessions where the other two guys only reach at certain point in the trail and kill themselves multiple times. (causing a lot of mistrust of players you play with because they can have a level max class but doesn’t even know how to play correctly and getting everyone killed) Then that the support for newer things for escape were cut because of changing focus constantly to multiplayer, meaning the map builder got deleted and escape got forgotten. Nowadays i only play 360 gears games since i have to pay online service to enjoy 4 or 5 (seriously, being online always and paying monthly to play horde even alone is an awful decision from TC).

Gears 3’s progression/ reward system was great. Having to go back and complete GOW1 & GOW2’s campaign on certain difficulties to get certain skins.. The entire medal system in order to get certain unlocks and having to actually GRIND to get the things you wanted and not just being handed to you or being able to buy them. Aaron griffin, savage hunter, savage marauder. Gears 3 had some amazing customizations and characters. I loved the gold versions of the characters as well. Gears 5 is great and i dont care for campaigns in general. There's things about it that are offsetting but overall i like it. Gears 3 was my favorite, it was very gritty, dark, and fast paced.

I never touched Gears 4 or 5 not because of the content, but because, I just don't see the need to play them. Gears 3 was already the ending to the series, so having the Swarm feels like an emergency "keep franchise alive" button. Judgement wasn't great but at least it didn't meddle with what already happened because it was a prequel. honestly, they should've ported 2 and 3 to PC.

As an ex gears grinder ( I love this franchise with all of my soul ) that then switched to Valorant, the competitive aspect is so much better and it’s not even that good in the first place, but we have a map pool and everything that is rather balanced and relaunching gears 5 for ranked is absolute hell I also miss the older ranked with KOTH and all that so you’re not forced to necessarily play control ( which I dont like )

Bruh, things can be said about EVERY GAME that comes out. Almost the ENTIRE GEARS 1 community said Gears 2 was trash when it came out and that it was fucking unplayable. Just because you were a child and Gears 2 is YOUR nostalgia game doesn’t mean that wasn’t the public opinion at that time. The only thing that “killed” Gears 5 is there wasn’t a new generation of kids playing it to make it “Their Nostalgia” like you and the other little kids did with Gears 2 and Gears 3; the little kids of the Gears 5 era were playing Fortnite, who ironically was made by the same company who made Gears in the first place. Gears is just for millennials, it’s an old man game with an aging player base, if the legacy players bash it cause it’s not “nostalgic enough” for them it will just die every time.

Yes! Great video. Input based matchmaking needs to be a thing in E-Day if they are going to insist on forcing cross play. I'm tired of playing vs MnK. They don't miss. Controllers are bad enough in that regard, but MnK just brings that frustration up another level.

I think when they were doing the skins in the battlepass it wasnt bad. You had to complete specific challenges and grind horde to get points for that astronaut skin. Thats the only skin I really remember doing it for.

Tbh feels to me like escapes a first draft of a mode n they just stuffed it in as is instead of spending like a year or two fleshing it out. It COULD have potential if they build it up in gears 5s inevitable sequel by going back to the horror-esque origins, gore, strategy etc of the old gears, but its waaaaaaay too linear rn

In gears 3 I worked my ass of to get Prescott and yet you can easily get him in this game. Also the story mode is dog shit. I normally completely every campaign from every game but this? No..

Please just give us a gears 3 remaster, I don't even need updated mechanics or game modes or graphics, just new servers to play gears 3 on, because me and my friends would to this day rather have fun on gears 3s laggy servers then get mad that the cover in a cover based shooter doesn't give you fucking cover! I'm at the point where i think they just want to take our money instead of give us a game we want to play! I love the gears games but like 5 just isn't a gears game, even 4 had some dope skins and limited events and such to grind for and earn, 5 doesn't even try they cant even fix bugs that we've complained about since launch like seeing enemy nade plants! I am 100% with you on all of this Icy
