It's always so hard to explain to anyone not in the community how I've made hundreds of gd videos without running out of ideas, and played for thousands of hours without getting bored. This video describes a lot of it perfectly. It's a game that no matter how long you play it and how good you get, there are always levels outside your skill range that you wanna beat - there's always room for improvement. Add the level editor and I genuinely find it hard to get bored of the game LOL good video

Yeah, i agree with bloodbath. Sonic wave and Bloodbath were considered the pinnacle of difficulty, even bloodlust took knobbelboy hundreds of thousands of attempts. Now theyre all wiped out from almost 400th place, 195th on the dl. And now, bloodlust is 101. Wow, we came a long way with skill.

From my experience, the best thing is the suspense. every attempt could be the attempt, every time you pass a section the stakes get higher and higher. every death further attaches you to the level making it feel more personal, and when days, weeks, or even months spent on a level pay off within a matter of 90 seconds or so and you defeat the beast, it's the most thrilling thing imaginable.

Another thing to point out about this game being so fun is how difficulty progression isn't the only thing you can do, moreso one of three. The other two are statgrinding and creating levels, which also have huge communities and leaderboards where you can progress with experience. While I have done a lot of difficulty progression with 34 extreme demons, I honestly keep playing this game because of the statgrinding side, where sightreading and endurance is most needed. It may be like.. REALLY slow.. but people like me love discovering a ton of different levels (and watching numbers go up :3), so I'm sitting at 47k stars and nearly 1.8k demons and hoping to get on their respective top 100 leaderboards. Point is, there are multiple different ways to enjoy playing this game, and you described the difficulty side of it SUPER well! Awesome video :3

The gameplay is like a 6-8 star.💯 Blast processed: super fun, a lil whiter than shocked. The end is the hardest part tho.🔥✅✅ Blindfolder: known as the easiest demon of the recent days💯💯💯 Glorious fortress: an AMAZING level. Great explanation of how geometry dash somehow makes pain a sense of enjoyment. I myself have been playing geometry dash on and off for a couple years now, but I've only pushed myself since 2.2 and Gotten from a hard demon, all the way to Artificial Ascent as my current hardest and grinding towards Sonic Wave as my next hardest. The feeling of beating levels which I could truly only dream of completing, like cataclysm, bloodbath, sonic wave (soon) and beating them after all these years is a truly an incredible feeling that is difficult to express.

I really enjoyed this video. It really encapsulates why I play the game myself. I play because I find it fun even if other people think I'm crazy for thinking stuff that seems impossible is fun. This video also got me thinking about my own progression through this game. A while ago, I had set up something akin to a roadmap of progression with it ending with my first extreme demon, but it still seemed so far out and unreachable. Now, I've started to seriously start playing that very extreme demon. It's still out of reach as of now, but it seems like it's within grasp. There is something about this game that when it grabs onto you, it won't let go. You just keep playing and playing, and you find yourself getting better and better until you are beating levels you would never had though possible before. It truly is something special that few games can say they have accomplished.

You should try out platformer mode, personaly (this could just be me though) I am horrible at classic autoscrolling levels, but when I touched a platformer I became a god. So maybe try that out, test your skillsets. Btw, I thought this video would have thousands of views because of the great quality, keep up the great work! :)

​@@TheAmazingGamer99 Oh I remember when I hated medium demons for being so difficult for me (I still don't really like them lol). I would say that you could try medium demons once you've beaten a few easy demons so they don't feel as hard, some easy medium demons I would recommend are "B" and "Spacetime Error". Also, when practicing levels I recommend doing runs to 100% from a certain percentage, like getting 100% starting from a checkpoint or start position at 80%, then you start from 70%, 60% and so on until you feel like you've gotten consistent at a level. At least that's what works for me.

i spent 5100 hours on this game and i dont regret a second of it its not quite my favorite game of all time but i think the skill expression that you can have in a game is unmatched with GD, i love this game because of that. yeah sometimes theres the annoying part which can take away alot of the satisfaction at times but for me theres nothing more enjoyable than finishing a level i like after weeks of grinding. thats mainly why i think gd is best played when youre actively trying to beat harder and harder levels, because something you thought of as impossible initially will eventually happen because you put the effort to get there and when youre done with the game, you can just sit back and feel accomplished

Especially for a new player, this is a very well thought out, put together, and researched video. You just… get it, in a way that makes it seem like you've been playing for years. It's really cool to see that you not only know some history of the game, but are also on top of what's currently going on as well. It's genuinely awesome to see a person with only a few demons (for now) put so much care and enthusiasm into a gd video. I love this game, I'd be a fool not to consider it one of my 3 favorites. I've been playing on and off since 2015, with 3k hours on steam and an significant unknown portion of hours on mobile. When I first started out, I was notably less skilled than you were, but last year I beat a list demon (off the list by now), and I recently picked up, practiced, and beat an extreme demon all in one session. GD is an amazing showcase of what putting time and effort into something can do. I find the physics and general controls very fun and satisfying to learn and master, and when combined with the tons of amazing levels made by passionate players, you get an experience where you not only want to improve for the sake of improving, but also for the ability to experience something incredibly enjoyable and awe inspiring. Awesome job on this video.

I love the adrenaline rush i get from this game when i'm getting far in say, an extreme demon (which i've beaten 4 of), is a feeling like no other. You get to feel so cool that you pulled off the hard gameplay, then nerves that are the wrist feeling of all time, the insane relief and satisfaction when you beat a level after 20,000 attempts, is insane and i love it.

My personal favorite was probably Dash since MDK (my favorite EDM/Newsgrounds musician) was featured, besides that it actually helps me learn the new mechanics a little bit without making it overwhelmingly difficult (**cough**) (screw you Electrodymanix). Basically Fingerdash is third, Blast Processing is second (because the song is a banger and that level is so much fun) and Dash really won my heart for both awesome level design and fantastically showcasing the new l̶o̶b̶o̶t̶o̶m̶y̶ 2.2 interesting features.

The main game really does teach you a lot after beating more and more main levels I could slowly feel myself getting better and better and then instead of seeking out just the easiest demons on KZbin I started beating the demons I chose to beat beating oxidized had me motivated to beat the rest of the main levels that troubled me being hexagon force which I felt completely confident in because oxidized had an asymmetrical dual with different game modes next I beat clutterfunk and finally I beat electrodynamics (surprisingly the part that had me frustrated and shaking was the funny little blind quad spike after switching to normal gravity after the iconic high speed ship).

Difficulty really isn't something that a lot of people would avoid, per se. A lot of people love a challenges and difficulty in games as it can be a great and fun test of skill, especially if that said difficulty is well-designed and isn't frustrating/ nonsensical (Rage games are a whole another deal though, some people like those too). A hard game might put you off, but the satisfaction you get when you finally master it is immeasurable. Geometry Dash is a unique case of difficulty because it's the _FANBASE_ who create the overwhelming majority of the game's playable content. It's THEM who decide if levels are going to be difficult or not. For however many demons there are in the level, there are even more easier levels that will appeal to a more casual audience. That's the magic of fan-created content, it's varied and can attract any kind of audience, both the hardcore tryhards that want to challenge themselves with extreme demons and people who just want to enjoy a platforming experience that's on an easier end. That's why the game has survived so long, its editor is overpowered and immaculate, it has a lot of talented creators as a result, and there's a near endless-amount of content it can offer floating around.

This is a super good video and you’re incredibly underrated! And you’re also totally right, I’ve been playing GD pretty much since it came out and what I though would be my final end goal 9 years ago was to beat cataclysm. After playing for 2 years I finally beat my first demon and after 4 years I beat my first medium demon. Then 2 years ago I beat nine circles after ~3000 attempts. Then last year I beat super sonic after 4000 attempts. After beating a few more insane demons I decided it was finally time for me to start trying for cataclysm. And 9 years later after 11000 attempts, on April 15th 2024 I beat cataclysm. It was a feeling like no other. Realizing that I just beat cataclysm. ME. After so long of it feeling out of reach. me, out of all people, had beaten it. But I didn’t feel exhausted or want to stop playing. I immediately started trying to beat my next extreme demon. And just a month later I beat hypersonic as my second extreme demon! Currently I’m going for falling up as my third so wish me luck!

tbf this game has a lot to say about the life in general patience and practice is what gets you to achieving your goal, you have to put a lot of effort to do "great things" you need to actually face a challenge if you want to feel proud of conquering it, easy routes never feel as good the difficulties you have to go through is what makes you better, you would never be as good if you didn't encounter any obstacles on your path that you have to overcome don't give up because there's always hope that with enough work, you'll achieve success, but you have to actually get up and work for it, waiting won't bring you closer to it however it also gives some interesting experiments as a side effect extreme focus can cause internal panic attacks, which can result in a very high heart rate, perhaps even giving you a heart attack, while also cranking up many hormones in your body because you're getting this far human brain can perform timings somewhat consistently even though you get only 0.01s, as long as you train it long enough, but an average person might struggle with 0.2s timings different conditions can help you learn things faster, like practicing before sleeping and then sleeping well or being in a good shape to have better muscle memory

I started playing gd on august 2018. at that time the hardest level was bloodlust. At that time, levels like clubstep or deadlocked seemed impossible to achieve. But now, the hardest level in the game is tidal wave, witch is MILES harder than bloodlust, and my hardest is black blizzard, a level that back then it didn't even seem humanly possible. I trurly love this game, really one of the best game ever made. But, in my country, it's unluckly considered like a stupid little mobile game, and when pepole think about gd, they think that ALL the levels look like 1.3...

The fun in gd comes from conquering a hard level, its a feeling like no other game and honestly even real life things couldnt make me feel, the joy and relief is very powerful and keeps you into wanting more... the amount of people i explained this and couldn't grasp that idea is really high lmao, truth is... only when you play to a certain point is when you can truly see why the game is so addicting and fun...! Literally! Needed to make this video because geometry really opened my eyes to challenging games and things in general. Originally I wasn’t gonna make this video solely on geometry dash but as I kept writing the script I realized more and more that it was my love for this game that was really driving my writing so I rewrote the entire thing and now we have this video. I love hard games. Hollow Knight was the first metroidvania genre game I ever played, so it was extra hard for me, but I still loved it. I beat all 46 bosses on radiant (boss has double health, usually has a more tough arena to fight in, and instakills you on any hit at all) which took me 40 hours total and 12 hours for just absolute radiance (hardest boss in the game) from first attempt to first successful radiant attempt. I also did all pantheons with all bindings (no charms [equippable upgrades], less damage, less max soul, 4 max hp instead of up to 9) BUT SEPERATELY, IM NOT CRAZY. Celeste was the first major platformer I ever played (at the same time as Hollow Knight), and its known for being difficult, but I still pushed through, and eventually beat the ninth and final chapter, all of the B-sides (harder versions of chapters) and C-sides (harderest versions of chapters) and even got a lot of golden strawberries (collecting one at the start of a chapter means if you die, you restart, and you lose the berry if you dont win). A1, A2, A4, B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, golden flying berry, and moon berry. I also got all the regular strawberries too. For some reason I also beat the 8-bit arcade game version. I've beaten Getting Over It 18 times so far, with my fastest run being 7:30 minutes. GOI is known for being extremely difficult and frustrating, so that's pretty good. In Undertale. I've beaten Sans (the hardest [#2 hardest to me] boss in the game) without taking any damage at all, and I've done Undyne the Undying (the other super hard boss) without healing, but not quite hitless. Finally getting to Geometry Dash, I've been casually playing for years, but I only beat my first hard demon a couple months ago; CrAzY, and then I beat forsaken neon. Now im working on future funk, and all gauntlets. Its always fun to beat a level thats harder than any level has been before. A couple honorable mentions of difficulty: All challenges in bedwars on the minecraft server Hypixel, including one where you cant take damage AT ALL, one where the shop is randomized and invisible, one where you only have one hotbar slot, and one where you cant hit anyone. Five Nights at Freddy's 1 night 6, not too hard but its not easy either. Five Nights at Freddy's 3 night 6, also not too hard but not easy either. Won a game of Fortnite (yes, Fortnite, it was a long time ago) using only a gray pistol. Beat Journey of the Prairie King arcade game in Stardew Valley with most of my lives left, and also Junimo Cart arcade game. But, even though I just gave a million major examples of how I like difficulty, I also like playing easy games. I sometimes just play some nice Plants vs Zombies, Cookie Clicker, Minecraft singleplayer, random mobile games, etc. So basically you read all of this to find out that I was trying to say that difficulty isnt really the deciding factor for me, a total stranger, to have fun

I did the B-side because it was at least shorter so I could attempt it more often. A5 is my least favorite chapter and way too long for me to do golden. I might return to A3 and A6 though

As a person who has beaten a hard demon (tower descent) which while its only 30 seconds, the difficulty is compressed into that time frame. And im working on beating plasma pulse (insane demon) the way to learn is to practice lets say from 70%, you do that to 100% than move back to around lets say, 50% move back until you know all of it you should also work on consistency and nerve control. After that, its just a matter of time.😊
