Humor aside, I love the German word for hippopotamus. The French, English, Italian and Spanish words all come from the Greek ("hippo" - horse "potamos" - river, so "river horse"). In German, there's a specific place name attached to it. "Nilpferd" literally means "horse of the Nile," one of the many rivers in Africa where such creatures live. Fascinating!
