Absolute legend. Pure magic. Fell in love with him when I heard him saying in an interview that he is never going to sacrifice everything else in life for football. Football is an important part of life but it is not his entire life. There are other important things in life as well. Life must be lived as a whole not lived with a myopic goal of being the best player in the world. Pure enjoyment. Pure fun. Thank you legend.

Exactly what I've been thinking. As lucky as we've been to have watched Ronaldo and Messi over the years, I feel like they have made us think that a player's prime should be 10 years or more but that isn't always the case. Even some of the greats like Ronaldinho, Henry and Kaka didn't have a 10 year period when they had a peak if you get what I mean. Henry's was from 2000-06, Ronaldinho was from 2002-06, Kaka was from 2003-09

The idea and notion that Hazard wasn’t consistent has to be biggest myth ever
@BSMAG87 Жыл бұрын
No, it really doesn't. I'm a Chelsea fan, and as they touched on, he literally took a year off in the 2015-16 season. He almost went totally missing, and if he hadn't had the nonchalant attitude, he would have been head and shoulders the best every season for that 4-5 year run. He was that good. I remember reading a big press feature on him when he first signed that had a story about how he'd run away from training as a kid and they'd find him up in a tree, just chilling, and that was the guy Eden Hazard was. He was so laidback and I think that had an impact. One can only wonder what might have been if he'd had the professionalism of say a CR7 or Frank Lampard. That said, one of the greatest the Prem has ever seen and one of the top 5 players ever to pull a Chelsea shirt on
@kamran1072 Жыл бұрын
@@BSMAG87 He played through a hip injury in 15/16 which everyone conveniently leaves out. That was the biggest injury he had at Chelsea and he should've been kept out for much longer but the team was struggling without him and he was rushed back. This idea that he was just lazy in 15/16 is complete nonsense.

The video title suggests that there's an argument to be had about how good he "actually" was. The clickbait quality of the video title doesn't do the player justice. For anyone who followed football from 2011-2019, there's no question. Whoever titled the video knows this as well.

He was very good on his day, but never really did much in the Champions League, and he was not the most consistent. His standout seasons you could put up with anyone, but he would go missing some games or almost all of 2015/16. In terms of Premier League legacy I suppose he’s up there with the likes of someone like Pires, but someone like Mane, Giggs, or Ronaldo, there is a level of consistency and driven greatness that he perhaps lacked, although I suppose that is part of his charm. Fun to watch and dripping with talent, shame he never trained.
@Izak43 Жыл бұрын
@@hnaku8748 I have many Chelsea fans accuse him of having the 15/16 season off, his manager certainly did. Injuries are a convenient smokescreen. He showed up overweight and out of shape (like a lot of the team did) after the title winning season, and that is a contributing factor to the injuries he picked up which didn’t actually force him to miss any matches until December. And he was poo up to that point, and Mourinho lost his shit over it, more than once. Most of the injuries were niggles an knocks. His major injury that season (the hip) wasn’t until March. He was a notoriously bad trainer, Giroud made a joke about him not even knowing where the gym was. That’s not me saying he was inconsistent as a player, but he was LESS consistent than the likes of Giggs, Ronaldo, Mane, etc. who were models of talent married to work ethic and professionalism on the pitch and in training. Comparing him to someone like Pires or Gazza shouldn’t be a slight. Those are good players. I don’t think Hazard was mid or anything, but I rate the 3 players I mentioned above him, along with guys like Ribery who did it longer and for more sustained periods, or guys like Ronaldinho with similar discipline issues but in their peak never dipped at all and won literally everything and still carried a team to the Copa Libertadores at 33, rather than the guy whose career basically ended at 28. Still an excellent player, mind.
@Izak43 Жыл бұрын
@@hnaku8748 What conjecture? Giroud’s comments and Mourinho’s reactions were on film. The players I named never had dips that big in the middle of their primes; a whole season where he was almost a non-entity. They were never injured, either, and being fit is a skill that has a fair amount to do with how you take care of your body off the pitch. He might be an all-time great Messi/Ronaldo levels if he applied himself a bit more, but we will never know. Not saying Hazard is bad, I’m saying they were better, and when the margins are fine, those intangibles matter. Those are the top 3 premier league left wingers for me, 4th is probably between Hazard, Pires, and Bale. I would entertain arguments for all 3, but Hazard’s resume probably wins 4th spot. That’s still amazing, imo.
