Super helpful channel! I have a Lazyboy manual rocker recliner. Just order the 3-position clip and the left side leg rest extender. The tip of the extender is bent and the metal is tearing. So it doesn't fit in the plastic clip. The parts are on the way. But I'm not positive on how to replace the leg rest extender. I can't find a video on it.

@Jesse Maines - That video is currently only available at the ReclinerRepairGuy.com website. It's called, 'Legrest Extension Scissors Replacement.' It requires a 1-month paid membership to view it. That membership also unlocks ALL the paid (& free) video content there -- far more content than is available on KZbin at this time. And by the way, it's also a good idea to replace the Leg Extenders as a set, both left & right.

Can you help me troubleshoot my Lazyboy. I have a recliner with cable remote that reclines and lifts legs indelibly, also does massage lower back and heat .. I pick this chair in a good shape with very little use but I got home and now the MSG (massage) won't work.. Any ideas? I have been watching some of you videos but nothing related to my problem.

Thanks for sharing your expertise. I have a question that I don't think has been addressed yet as I look through your catalog of videos. I have a 3 seat couch. The center is fixed and the two sides recline. My more than rambunctious kid has twisted and bent the backs of both of the reclining seats. The outer portion of both seat backs lean away pretty badly. This is not a well known name brand but is relatively large and sturdy. The couch is only 2 1/2 years old and I want to avoid paying another $2500 for another furniture set. Is there a way to un-twist the seat backs? Much appreciated.

@tyanite1 - Sounds like the back frames have been damaged. If they are repairable, you can fix them. If they are damaged beyond repair, you can check with the manufacturer to see if replacement frames are available. Also, be sure to check where the backs slide onto the back of the mechanism at the seat. This area may also be damaged. If so, you'll likely need to install new reclining mechanisms as well.

I just found your KZbin, I have an electric reclining couch from Ashley. It's only 3 years old. I believe we have a manufacturing defect but Ashley disagrees. The foam in the seats is falling through the bottom because the very thin fabric has come un-sewn. It looks like a very simple single stitch was used. The fabric on the underside of the footrest is torn and foam falls out. We bought this couch because the Ashley selling point was the ability to restuff/fluff the cushions. However when we turned the couch over, most of the access zippers are inaccessible due to the frame or other pieces attached to or blocking the zippers. The poor construction and thoughtless design is unbelievable. Since Ashley won't honor the warrant we paid for, I have to figure out how to fix it. This furniture was our "step up grown-up" investment and boy are we disappointed! I am following your advice on getting new foam etc and I guess I will figure out how to best sew the tears so I don't have to do this again. I appreciate your videos!

@wolfehouse - With most name brand mass-produced furniture brands, like Ashley, La-z-boy, etc., repair labor is not typically covered after the 1st year after purchase. And seat foam is generally only covered for 1 year (sometimes 2) as well. However, just because it's no longer covered by warranty doesn't mean they can't fix it. You can always contact them to get a repair quote. If you want longer lasting foam, yes, buy better-quality foam. However, if you're not sure how to repair the torn covers, or how thick the replacement seat foam should be, etc. you can always get a quote from a local upholsterer as well. IF the seat foam is easily replaceable, it's likely that is done without turning the sofa over. So, remove the attached backs to see if the zippered compartments are easier to access. However, if the attached seat cushion covers are tearing on the bottoms, they most likely will have to be completely removed for repair. In that case, an upholsterer is probably your best bet.

Hello sir!! Absolutely love your channel and will be sharing it with many!! I'm selling a 15 year old laz-y-boy recliner for $25 bucks in a yard sale page. Now that I've seen your channel, learned about the quality of the lazy boy recliner, it makes me wonder how much to recover vs purchasing a new one because the nuts, bolts and frame of this chair are in amazing shape. I now see why dang lazyboy recliners are where you get the most bang for the buck. If one was to bring a chair like this to you, what's a ballpark (low grade leather up to higher grade) to recover? Curious to know. Ps. I promise at $25 bucks, I'm paying someone to take this chair and I even advertised that it was for a man cave, garage shop or dog chair YET THEY STILL TRY TO HAGGLE!! Wth is wrong with people??
@reclinerrepairguy41552 жыл бұрын
@Amy D - Sorry, I'm not an upholsterer, so I can't quote that for you. But reupholstering is expensive, so many people think that buying new furniture is the way to go. But if you're buying mass-produced furniture, you're likely getting a lower-quality frame, so you won't necessarily be in a better situation after that purchase. If you want $25 for the chair, list your asking price at $50 dollars so buyers can "haggle" you down to the price you want. ;)

I just bought a older model lazy boy (was to maybe 15y old) for my mother in law. It was recommended because she is getting shoulder surgery. When I got in the house and about to install the back on I noticed on of the torque bolts that hold on the back bracket is missing. I can’t find info on what size bolt I can replace it with. Do you know what size that would be?
@reclinerrepairguy41552 жыл бұрын
@Jonathan Hymers - Just remove one of the other screws & take it to a local hardware store to try to match it up. If that doesn't work, stop by any local La-z-boy dealer to see if they have any in stock. That screw size has not changed over the years, so a new La-z-boy Back Bracket screw will fit her older chair.

We have a power recliner chair that is NOT a Lazy boy, and when it reclines it makes a loud CLUNK, it doesn't make the noise when coming back up? Any Idea what it could be. We do have a warranty that we purchased. They offered a credit to replace the chair or would pay us back for the cost of the warranty.

Any ideas on why one of two massage motors on my chair won't turn off unless the power to it is cut? If I unplug the chair and plug it back in the one motor just fires right up again
@reclinerrepairguy4155 Жыл бұрын
@Smite Khepri - The hand control may no longer be successfully turning off this feature. But there may also be other electric component or wiring failures that can replicate that issue. See this video for more tips on getting help ------> kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXi7aX6IiJeijLc

I have a Lane recliner with a few issues. Can I pick your brain about how if possible to fix these issues from factory?

Do you recommend do you recommend La Z Boy? Are they made well? I am looking at purchasing a recliner from an actual La-Z-Boy store. And they are offering a warranty for five years. I’m between the La-Z-Boy recliner and a Raymour and Flanigan Beckett recliner. I’m not familiar with Raymour and Flanigan so your advice would be great and appreciate it. Thank you.
@reclinerrepairguy41552 жыл бұрын
@JT - I'm not familiar with Raymour Flanigan either, sorry. La-z-boy is a mass-produced furniture brand like Ashley, Flexsteel, Lane, etc. The mass-produced brands are not high quality furniture. To learn more, see the video 'Who Makes the Best Furniture/Recliners?' It can be found on the ReclinerRepairGuy.com website. Video description: Rather than name one high-quality brand, this video covers some of the different levels of quality across the furniture market, such as the cheapest new furniture, mass-produced name brands and higher-quality furniture.

What brand(s) recliner do you recommend for longevity? Im 6’ 4” 285 lbs if that matters. I recently went window shopping. La-z Boy & Flexsteel are the only brands I know of. Flexsteel all felt too small for me.
@reclinerrepairguy4155 Жыл бұрын
@LordDeadSpider - If you want a recliner that will last a long time, don't buy any of the mass-produced brands: La-z-boy, Flexsteel, Ashley, etc. Overall the quality is only fair, with some poorly constructed frames & lower quality padding sprinkled throughout those product lines. If you don't have a consistently good-quality frame & padding, the furniture will not last, especially for larger users like yourself. Unfortunately, you'll have to spend more money to get that better quality. In my area -- Ohio -- Norwalk Furniture is one manufacturer that uses good quality frames & padding throughout their product lines.

are laz-boy with power headrest and lumbar support reliable chairs. Or would you recommend getting a manual chair
@reclinerrepairguy4155 Жыл бұрын
@Pete Randazzo - La-z-boy electrical parts warranty is typically 3 years (be sure to verify that, warranties are subject to change anytime). So, after that time, any electrical parts failures -- lift motors (actuators), hand controls, power supplies, control boxes, etc. -- will not be covered. You'll pay full retail price for any failed parts + repair labor, if you're not a DIYer. And retail part costs from La-z-boy are pricey. With a manual La-z-boy, however, many of the mechanism & frame parts have a "limited lifetime" warranty (again, that could change at anytime). And of course there are no electrical parts that can fail. So in terms of upkeep costs, the manual recliner is generally less expensive to maintain.
@peterandazzo2815 Жыл бұрын
I am in the process of purchasing a new La-Z-Boy recliner with power, lumbar and head support. The La-Z-Boy dealer wants $280 for the extended warranty. Do you think it is a good idea to purchase this?
@reclinerrepairguy4155 Жыл бұрын
@@peterandazzo2815 - Read the fine print to see exactly what is covered. Then research the company that provides the warranty to see if they actually pay claims, rather than find excuses not to pay them.
