I drew from Seattle to Salt Lake City via Oregon during the winter storm day before Christmas in 2022, was astonished to see many Teslas struggling in the snow on the cascade mountains, saw couple of them drifting in the deep turns (not sure if it's their weight), few on the shoulder with parents with the kids with hazard lights on (spoke to one of them, looks like glass fogging was the reason) and at least 2 Teslas run off into the road dividers. These videos are fun to watch, but reality is far different from what they show here.

Yes, Tesla's handle the snow not only extremely well but far better vs comparable gas cars (or trucks when Cybertruck comes out guaranteed). I drove in blizzards in my AWD Model 3 Performance with winter tires and the combination of 50/50 weight distribution, the heavy battery below your feet low center of gravity and the electric motors ability to adjust traction control much quicker than gas cars makes for confidence inspiring superior handling in snow and ice. Handles much better than my previous gas powered AWD sedan and most surprising to me personally was my Tesla actually accelerates and brakes HARD in snow my previous car could never do. Seems to defy physics. Really no comparison.

In Fairbanks Alaska, the temps can go as low as -66F. How would any TESLA deal with the cold? Should have some sort of plug in.
@shawnswc25393 жыл бұрын
There's quite a few issues that I found about it one is It needs a heated meal so in Winter time. So you do not need to get out of your vehicle to scrape the ice off of your side meals. So if they make a heated side mirrors instead it will make it so you don't have to hop out to scrape off the ice anymore. It's you too having round the door being heated so you could open your doors up in the Winter time cause they have a habit of freezing shut. Issue 3 the sensors around the vehicle that sends vehicles to keep you from getting accidents the accidents has a habit of gaining snow and/all over them to cause problems to see coming vehicles. So having a method around that area to be heated to keep the snow from covering the sensors probably would Walk. Issue full if they find a new way to cover the gap for the back seats rails from keeping snow and other things like rocks things and salt and dirt and many other things from falling in to cause many issues down the road. And there is many more but you just have to watch lotta KZbin Videos of people driving in the Winter time and they will point out lot issues they found out with the Tesla vehicles

I’ve been driving Tesla’s for years. Our oldest has almost 100k mikes on it and in the extreme cold it does great! Batteries have held up over the years, and you don’t have to worry about “starting” in the cold. The vehicle is technically always on, there is no engine to crank so it is ready to go when you are, the only thing that can delay you is if you didn’t properly defrost you’ll have to wait for the windows to clear.

imma tell u the answer is less than a minute. Engineers want superconductors, which are materials that have little to no resistance when electricity moves around. Not to long ago, relative to the scientific community, we discovered that a really cold conductor becomes a superconductor. So if a circuit were in freezing temperatures 24/7 the performance of that electric technology will be extremely efficient. I came here because I enjoy technology. But It’s interesting - my diesel pickup is way more capable then any of these EV sales pitches want to tell me. I don’t care where I gotta go. My truck has gone coast to coast far more times then I can remember. In weather totally not suitable for any EV. On road - off-road in mud over wheel wells pulling 10 to 12k loads. I’ve traveled in -60 degrees in North Dakota. All over east coast Midwest southwest northwest states in dead winter and in the hottest temps. I’ve even had to drive out of Houston when hurricane Harvey hit. water level so high, you couldn’t see the hood even up the the tow mirrors. Mind you, my pickem truck is a Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 swr. I’ve got 2 fuel tanks with 100gallons of diesel from a company called titan fuel tanks. I can travel 1500 miles one full up before I can even start to consider looking for fuel stop. I’ve had my truck for the last 13 years, only had 1 turbo go out. That’s it. Just never drive it like a race car. Change fluids - filters- and hoses. Always kept up on maintenance. I’ve got just a lil’bit more then 550k on the mile meter. This truck has NEVER left me in any compromising or unsafe location. I paid 22k for this truck 13 years ago and carmax says they will buy my truck for 18k. I VERY HIGHLY DOUBT ANY EV CAN EVEN COME CLOSE. Automakers are completely out of touch with the price of automobile today. 100k for any new auto that’s still depreciating is completely wasteful. For what manufactures are charging today - it better be a collectible. EV today are nothing new. Fallow the history of automobiles and yell find EV started before 1900. Enough with my rant and thank you for reading my post.
