Hi guys, hope you'll enjoy this episode where we talk about our experiences as a foodie in London, we've enjoyed our time here & look forward to visit again in the future! Next week we're headed for another food adventure, see you! 😁

I'm a Londoner and I agree with your assessment of the London restaurant scene. I think you can get pretty decent versions of most things, but it's hard to find really 'authentic' versions of things that taste exactly like the country of origin. Interestingly you went to one of them that is very accurate imo, Santa Nata.

My new friends, my favorite food floggers. I love your enthusiasm and passion. Don’t be shy about your criticisms (You tend to hold back on what you think, probably a cultural trait.) I, as a viewer, enjoy your honesty, and come to your channel for that. Stay doing what you do, providing information in your unique way. I wish you continued success and huge viewership. Nice jobs, guys

We were in London many years ago, I think in 2010, and even then I felt it was so expensive. Just like you we’ve been in Paris first and I thought Paris was expensive, but then coming to London we were like omg, Paris is not so bad at all! 😅 Food wise I do prefer Paris or Rome as well (I know you guys have bitter aftertaste of Rome after what happened to you 😕) But I can’t wait for your next adventure, always so fun to “travel with you” ♥️

Hi Guys, you came up on my feed again so I hope you don’t mind if I comment. Malaysians are amongst the most friendly and polite people in the world, I just wish you had explored further than London, there is so much food to enjoy in the UK at much lower prices. You should also consider that Gordon and Heston restaurants are now franchises. The best British food is provided by restaurants where the owner is the chef. Did you try a Gregg’s sausage roll? Missed by Brit expats the world over!

Hi Andrew, good to see you again 👋, no worries, you’re welcome to leave us any comments hahaha! Thank you for being so kind 😊 We would very much love to visit places other than London too but our schedule only allows for London atm, rest assured we’ll be back to explore other parts of UK! We’ve not tried Gregg but we’ve heard much about them, perhaps on our next trip 😉 Hope you’ve enjoyed this adventure with us & we’ll see you in the next one!

No worries, perhaps you can try Ramsay’s new restaurant in KL when you are home and tell us how it compares to London. To be honest the prices scare me but I am always willing to try if it really is that good. Thanks

If your subscribers are ever in Edinburgh go to Mellis cheesemonger in Stockbridge. If you can get past the huge selection buy some fresh Gorgonzola and Adamsons Pittenweem fired Oatcakes. Accompany this with quince jam, dried fruit or a glass of beer. I promise you this is a simple gourmet delight.

@@andrewcarruthers9347 Wow that sounds delicious!!! We can already picture it in our minds hahaha, sometimes the simplest foods are the most enjoyable 😋

I really enjoyed your food tour. Thank you so much for sharing. It's been 20 years since I lived in the UK, but I wonder whether there is still good food at better prices outside of London? Maybe you could explore some more of the country for us one day :)

Hi Chris 👋, we did put on quite a bit of weight 😂. If you were to look at our early vlogs we’ve ‘grown’ in size hahaha!!! Of course we also try to keep healthy whenever we can, such as eating normally when we aren’t on food adventures & exercising regularly to hopefully slow down the tummy growth 😂

so u think our food is just decent ? so what is your top 3 places of excellence when it comes to food ?? if your bases for good food is the price then just go to McDonald's !!
@TheGourmetPlate Жыл бұрын
Hi Petee, thanks for giving us your opinion on this matter. Yes, we did feel the general food in London is mainly decent for a rather high price point. If you were to have watched the entire episode you'll have noticed we did mention there are amazing restaurants in London as well & it makes more and more sense as you 'climb' the Michelin Star ladder because the pricing is similar to other countries. For GENERAL food, certain countries come to mind. For example Japan, Singapore or even Malaysia where you get DECENT FOOD at a way lower price point. Japan is an amazing place for food by the way, from street foods to fine dining. We never once mentioned our base for good food is PRICE (again, if you watched the entire episode this would've been rather evident). Once again thanks for dropping by & letting us hear your opinion. Cheers!

You went to the most expensive restaurants and you complain about the prices. Why you would go to the same restaurant twice when there are better restaurants for Sunday roasts like Blacklock.
@TheGourmetPlate Жыл бұрын
Hi Penny 👋, glad to see you on our channel 😬 We understand your confusion in relation to us commenting on the high food prices in London but at the same time also visiting some of the higher priced establishments. Allow us to clarify. We believe in price to value, which means the absolute price point isn’t our concern, but rather what you get for that price. This is why we’ve mentioned in this vlog that as odd as it is, as you explore the Michelin restaurants in London, their price makes more and more sense as it levels with other similarly ranked Michelin establishments across the world & the flavours you get generally commensurates with that price point. Casual/ street food in London in comparison is very expensive considering what you get at that price point. Hope this provides a clearer picture ☺️. As for Sunday Roast, we’ve only visited Savoy Grill once. We’ll check out Blacklock for their Sunday Roast when we visit London again 😬

I think the Brits might not agree with you that their food is “quite decent” for the “steep prices”

Hi Thomas 👋, nice to see you again! You could be right but I guess we’ll find out when the Brits respond 😂

As a Brit and Londoner who has travelled, London is a very expensive city. You are correct in that recent inflation has pushed prices up but the bigger underlying reason is the property prices, which have gone up enormously in the last few decades. A big part of what you're paying for is the cost of the land the restaurant sits on. Food produce has gone up in price since Brexit since we import a lot of fruit and vegetables. But if you think London is expensive and maybe a bit overpriced, get ready for New York! If I took my biggest (and most disappointing) New York restaurant bill and spent it in London, I could eat at Bancone twice and have money for cocktails, or have a Michelin-star meal with fine wine. If you do go to New York, I recommend Yoon Haeundae Galbi in midtown for some great Korean food. My other dining experiences were pretty average and really overpriced from the Londoner perspective, but the more everyday fast food and deli food is good and only slightly more expensive than London.

Hello 👋, thanks for providing your insight as a Londoner ☺️! Thanks for the recommendation for New York, will definitely put it on our list when we get to visit! 😋 Rather surprising that New York feels even more expensive haha 😂
@Funglutton Жыл бұрын
@@TheGourmetPlate well similar issues in Manhattan with limited space pushing up the cost of land, but another thing is the service charge is anywhere from 20-28%!!! In London it's generally 12.5%.
@TheGourmetPlate Жыл бұрын
Oh yes! We’ve heard about the service charge, it’s insane! 😱😱😱
