I think she is much better than we all think. If she achieves this at the age of 21, how will she play when she becomes a fully formed tennis player? It is pure pleasure to watch the development of such a huge talent.

I'm glad someone else said it and I completely agree. Well said. She's not even in her physical prime yet let alone experience-wise at only 21. And she learns and gains experience very quickly and has a hunger to improve. I think her accomplishments in 2022 is only the beginning for her career.

@@regulusarcturus It's a possibility sure but I highly doubt it. Also Iga's abilities and consistency are exceptional in the WTA. Between that and her desire to improve, I don't think what you're saying applies to her. In turn I would say to you: don't be surprised if she wins more majors. Before this year, there were several comments saying she would be stuck at 1 major.

1GA is not only a good player but also a very charming young lady. She hits the ball with a snap and power creating top spins that confuse her opponents. Has the ability to figure out how to win and solve out problems in a match. Playing smart, she loves to put pressure on her opponents that make them look bad. I knew when she won Roland Garros in 2020 in straight sets, she is a very special player and is still improving! She deserved to be the number one player regardless when Barty retired. She was already headed that way and she did not disappoint winning 67 matches with only 9 losses and won 2 Grand Slams in 2022. If she improves her 1st serves into aces, she can win the 4 grand slams in 2023.

Iga has that unique groundstroke which doesn't need her to commit so much of her body weight. That makes her able to run energetically to the ball, making her court coverage very good.

I love Iga and she is very ahead of the field at the moment, but 10 Slams is very ambitious and an unrealistic goal for someone who at the moment has 3. Only 7 women (and 6 men) have won 10 Slams in the 140 years that tennis has existed.
@A_friendwithoutbenefits2 жыл бұрын
@@regulusarcturus she's still young and if she can play until her mid-30s and win on average 1 slam every two years it's achievable. Given how consistently ahead of the pack she's been i don't think that's too unrealistic. Of course, anything can happen in the future

@@A_friendwithoutbenefits Sharapova won 3 Slams by the age of 20 and then won 2 more for the last 11 years of her career. Hingis, at age 18 and a half had 5 Slams and then did not win another one. She's overrated. If you look at the losses she had post Barty, it is clear that when her back is against the wall, she doesn't have a plan B. She is used to pummeling her opponents with her attacking style so much so that when faced with an opponent that is beating her at her own game, she lacks the counter punches that nullifies her opponent's attacking game. Barty on the other hand knows how to handle ball bashers and uses her wide variety of shots to comeback and win the match.
