You deserve another championship belt for this breakdown, bro. Most "breakdowns" are just surface-level fluff for easy content, but you just immediately delivered the most detailed and high-level breakdown of an MMA fight on KZbin I've seen in 15+ years. Please continue to do these. Great job, Jamain!

I heard from experienced fighters that the "Otatsu Lock" sometimes destroys their knees. Taira may have known this, but this match was probably the first time he actually destroyed his opponent. The "Otatsu Lock" is a technique invented by Japanese fighter Tatsumitsu Wada, who competed in ONE Championship, and is well known among Japanese MMA freaks as the technique that tormented "DJ" kzbin.info1UzX7Bw0TIA?si=CaHMvpKwEl3anzrb kzbin.infohIIMiI_gpp0?si=oAlrfYKN7VYc7RmK

It's cool when you make breakdown analysis style content. You're good at talking things thru and explaining them in clear detail. *Question, when you described that tactic to extend your jaw. Has that ever caused issues with someone's jaw slipping out of place or something especially when fighting off a submission? I'm curious because a few years back I dislocated my jaw and had to get it physically put back into place by a doctor and holy f*ck it was one of worst experiences of my life. It took so much force for the doctor to pull and reposition my jaw. I know this was a uncommon experience but I couldn't help but be curious about if anything like this has happened to anyone in one of those submission battles type of situations? (Random: Henry Cejudo comes off like such a narcissist that he probably thinks he is this good at giving quality breakdown videos? Sorry Henry irritates me, especially with his whole I'm the smartest person vibe) Anyways, this is probably a stupid idea but you are one of the most skilled grapplers at utilizing the backpack, so what if you worked with a company to make uniquely customized Aljo designed backpack? They could be specifically designed for transporting all your MMA equipment to the gym? To Training? Probably a stupid idea, it just randomly popped into my head
@FunkMasterUFC
@FunkMasterUFC 19 күн бұрын
In regards to the jaw extension the technique, I haven’t seen or had any issues. Now I also try my best to never let someone full on chin lock me from back control, and crush my jaw inwards. That would seem logical to eff your jaw muscles up. As for Henry, I try to ignore the obnoxious parts and just listen to what he’s seeing. It gives me extra perspective from another high level athlete. Then I get to see if I’m completely wrong, a little wrong, missing details, or can gain a shift in how I’m attacking a problem/situation. And as for the backpack, we’ve crossed that possibility so many times but can’t seem to get a proper team to bring it to life.

I appreciate your breakdowns and everything you do Aljo. I been a long time fan for sure. I honestly think that Asian dude did that ish on purpose. I just don't believe he practices that with his teammates Because the results would be the same. Now I'm not necessarily mad at him, but this is a sport. So if you know a move can disable somebody like that, I would not be surprised if he does it again. If he does it again and again and again, should a move like that be allowed??

@@FunkMasterUFC When it happened, I thought he resisted the takedown too hard and that's what caused the injury. Is that what you're saying? Like, if he had accepted the takedown and relaxed his leg, it wouldn't have popped? People resist their opponents advancing position so much that they end up in horrible positions, when they could choose to let it go earlier and put themselves in a more ideal position to escape or reverse. Seems like it's just a mentality, and could easily be changed, but it almost never gets addressed. I learned when I resisted an opponents leglock entry too much, get reaped very fast and hard, and got my acl torn 😕 Awesome breakdown, man, thanks for making it!

Taira's interpreter didn't translate accurately, but Taira said that was a "secret technique against a wrestler" I'm not sure he meant that injury was caused intentionally, but I think he knew that otatsu lock could lead to injury. According to Ryo Okada, Taira's second, he saw Tatsumitsu Wada, the creator of the technique, use this technique on a sparing partner during practice and injure the opponent's knee. Of course it wasn't intentional, it was an accident. It is a very dangerous technique, so everyone should not try it lightly.
