Your rant at 3:54: Agree 100% on HDR. For video, nobody uses it or likes it (that I know of). I know it has some uses, but it's an edge case... probably less than 1%. If Pixel doesn't provide any LOG support, it should by now. Also, the Blur Mode looks bad (look at your ears).

I wouldn’t say bad .. compared to what everyone else is doing with Ai bokeh its pretty much about as good as the competition

@@TheEverythingMan The first place I look is hair or ears. Since you're wearing a cap, that rules out one of those checks. Apple's latest offering seems to be a helluva lot better than it was when they first came out with cinematic mode. The Pixel looks as bad as how Apple's first gen looked (for me anyways). The good news is that it's all software based so hopefully easy for them to tweak.

Solid review! I've been really impressed with the 8 Pro so far... and am really impressed with their skintones. I also agree, I never turn on 10bit HDR, I hate that we have to change the settings each time, and dont understand why they didn't give a 24fps option with the front facing camera. Regardless, I'm happy with the blur mode now (iphone is still doing it better) but in general, I prefer the Pixel image over the 15 Pro Max! Great video, looking forward to more...

How is camera preview and video playback for you? I have Pixel just one day and noticed that preview is not smooth like samsung for example, also, when playbacking video from gallery it is randomly stuttering but mostly at different parts so it doesn't look like it's in the video itself.

Great coverage of some of the overlooked talking points. The settings sticking seems to have just shown up for me. Set it on 24fps and it remains after closing and reopening camera. Question: are you able to share the Lut you created for the Pixel 8 for those that do not have Instagram?

Pixel 8 Pro owner. I shot 1080/30 fps on a hot day in sunlight (90 degrees) for an extended period and while the phone didn't want to shut down like my earlier Pixels when it got too hot, it did start dropping frames and started shooting (without warning) in 24 fps.
