I do like this map. Fun, and good story. My fav is probably the second newest, after Trumbull, is the one with the firehouse and fortified truck stop bases. First map I ever played and it’s really fun

@@GitGudFox that’s a great idea! Show how the network and red talon compete for your allegiance, so not only is the ending whatever leader you pick, but what side it is. So, like a warlord red talon giving a different boon to warlord network. Builder being less OP and splitting it between the 2 (but adding a seperate buff). Unique rewards for either side.

Great reviews! My personal strategy for fresh start, no boons is to start at providence ridge so I get the early infirmary and then hop to Trumbull if I can't get the biochem. U may not have a blood plague victim but getting to infirmary 2 early is crucial with fresh characters.

I hated Fort Marshall because of the zombie spawn points. For me, it was always a pain to return to base without starting a mini siege. No matter which entrance I tried to pull up to, there was always a ton of zombies within earshot. I never got it fully built up before I got annoyed enough to just jump to the farm. The farm is my favorite base of any map. It's so quiet and peaceful there. And it looks cool. But that might just be my bias from growing up running around my grandparents' farms.

At first I didn’t like this map because of how hard the starting area is, but after you clear the first city up north, the map becomes really small, most of the map is a dead area in the center with 3 cities around it. I personally loved the trailer base.

It has the worst start, but it's potentially the easiest map to clear difficulties on due to the landmark.

It is a map with the hardest start since the starter base is so small (just 2 free small slots with nothing built for you) and also no good outposts nearby that aren't plagued by a heart. But it is the easiest map since you can get immortal followers straight from the start (either Tressie down in Marshall, or Mickey in the North East with izzbee.). All you have to do is drive to their locations and their questline will start. It also has one of the best bases in the game (farmland) which is super easy to clear from plague territory since all the hearts that might cover it, can be killed for free if you block the entrance with your car. There is a reason why speedrunners always pick this map.

@@GitGudFox so if i complete a play through on trumbull then carry on or move back to the map after doing part of a quest line (ie getting ray back to the church) i get ray in the church and ray at the barn west of the farmhouse. Mikey Wilkersons quest to find the stashes is always active when i log back on, even if been completed.

My argument for the checkpoint being so bad is probably because it's design was made for a specific reason. the Checkpoint was made pre update 30 so if you were gonna move to trumbull valley you used to automatically go to the starter base. But if you brought 4 cars along you could lose 2 of them which could be vanditos packed to the gills with rucksacks. So in that perspective it does it's job really well for people moving to trumbull valley rather than people starting there since it's just bare minimum.

It's in the same way that they advertised the 4th map Providence ridge as being "new player friendly" with it's look out tower being connected right to the base and starting with an infirmary off the bat.

Hey Git Gud! I HIGHLY recommend a hardcore isometric zombie survival game called "Project Zomboid". It's on steam and is quite cheap. It may sort of look like The Sims but it's not for the faint of heart. it's VERY complex and has so, so many mechanics, including foraging, farming, building/carpentry, mechanics/driving, etc... The game takes place in Kentucky in 1993, you can explore and loot towns and even the big city of Louisville! As I said earlier, it's hardcore, meaning you'll have to constantly be afraid of your hunger, thirst, temperature, lingering zombie hordes, and stay on your toes. The game has a big and great community, and TONS of mods on the steam workshop which will liven up the vanilla experience! I really think you should check it out and make a series of it!

Yeah I found this is THE map for one's first play on the hard difficulties. Invincible NPCs for decoys when dealing with plague hearts and other dangerous situations. AND you have guaranteed access to bloater gas and scentblock through the landmark. You can be untouchable with these tools, easy way to get that first boon with minimal casualties. Edit: I was in the middle oftyping this comment when the video got to the part where you confirmed those exact points. Great minds and shit.

Man, I wish the game had the perfect base! Maybe one made from solid bricks, and surrounded by iron railings so it feels safe and secure! And has multiple floors so your survivors aren't sleeping at ground level where zoms are! And is in the middle of the map for ease of travel! And is located at a road junction so you can see in all directions! And has notable history and charm, as if Dunder Mifflin paper company used to work there Wouldn't that just be the best base?

The problem is that the ideas are ineffective. People are leaving the game as quickly as joining because most players find the game boring, repetitive, and quickly run out of things to do. UL doesn't think in the long term.

After finally beating all the maps I'm looking to settle down on one single map and add some QoL mods so I dont have to switch out of the map. Hope your map review videos help me decide but I almost already decided but we'll see. I've always been a fan of desert settings so Drucker country is my strongest pick unless theres some of other things to note on other maps.

Yeah, I never build beds. I may get some beds incidentally from a Lounge or from enclaves, but I never build a dedicated bedroom facility.

This is easily the best map imo, best base is container fort but thats sadly on a very mid map. Meagher Valley has the hands down the worst landmark base in the game and its 'best' base Ive never even lived in because it's so poorly positioned at the bottom of the map, ive beaten meagher valley twice once on nightmare and once on lethal and I pretty much never go down to that part of the map with my only reasons haven been a handful of missions (albeit anecdotal but where very rare for me) and when it was time to clear out that section of the map of plague hearts, the bases best draw being that you can farm influence easily which, imo, squellions brewery is miles ahead in usefulness for that, influence being the most critically important early on and having a massive drop in value as the game progresses so a mid-game base (thats only real weakness is that I can't ever seem to place a damn watch tower in that base where its of any good use, I guess you can place it nicely enough to cover each entrance for after the zombies get inside, though thats not exactly what I look for in watch tower placement) that can pump out influence far outweighs a late game base that can (even if said late game base can do it even better). The driving (and I know im in the minority here) in meagher valley is also extremely unpleasant for me, there is no map where ive flipped my car more at night than that place, it has so many low rocks, particularly around the river, and I just have trouble noticing them mostly at night, maybe my game is too dark, maybe im just bad at driving but I find off roading to not be nearly as smooth as others have claimed about it, dont have those issues in trumbull, it also has hands down the worst roads in the game and I do value roads especially because often enough there isnt even any real reason to off road because it's a straight enough shot from where you're at and vision is typically best on the roads. But hey what do I know, I mean I value stamina leagues ahead of health (why tank dmg when you can outrun it or at least run till you find a more favorable position to fight in, ive also never used that flame gun thing so I probably set myself on fire far less than others). I find influence to be a quickly fading in value commodity, though def not the fastest (I never even bother with stills unless they are built in). I think that the autoshop is a very strong 3rd best large slot behind the farm and lounge (but I also prefer to drive on roads typically, except in trumbull). And the only thing I think whitney field is S tier in is over producing a resource so much so that producing more of that resource actually becomes a waste of your time (handfuls of painkillers here and there have always given me more than enough surplus on top of just playing the game). I would rate the Container Fort as one of the weakest 8-man bases, but this map is quite good, I do agree with that.

@@GitGudFox I can see it not being everyone's cup of tea but it has the most small slots in the game and the single best small slot, its 1 indoor slot which provides 8 beds no matter what you put there, I put either a latrine or an officer quarter in there making it a very strong morale bonus slot. In fact living there made me realize just how underwhelming the large slots really are with only a couple having solid strengths such as the lounge and trade depot with the next runner ups imo being sniper tower (just a bigger slot watch tower with an okay bonus) and field hospital (another building meant to free up small slot space) then there's the farm, which you can easily over produce food in this game and with easily acquired mods and skills the garden does the job (or maybe you want a hydroponics bay that provides 8 bed slots) and the auto shop which is personal preference for a 3rd large slot just so I dont have to fill my tank as much, but certainly not because I have a lack in fuel, and if you're a fan of the staging area this map has leeds concrete silo (basically the same thing in fact you cant build a staging area if you have leeds and also right next door so you'll likely clear this and the base at the same time) so I just prefer more small slots to begin with for better customization. generally accepted strong options to build in a large slot- Lounge, trade depot, farm, sniper tower, field hospital, and probably just me but an auto shop generally accepted strong options to build in a small slot- workshop, clinic, watchtower, garden\hydro, latrine, shooting range, workout area, kitchen and stills of course always exceptions to both those lists so just give me the extra small slots to begin with and ill use 2 large slots for the lounge (only powerhouse large slot imo) and trade depot till I dont even need that anymore and ill just toss up whateva.... auto shop im sure, maybe sniper tower for some fun oh right, castle doctrine is nifty too I suppose, can safely afk a maxed-out threat siege there too, ferals get confused AF, jugs dont do any better with all those snipers and ramps, and it has a nice open slot up top for some kind of tower overlooking your parking and the town if you want, and the nighttime lighting on the parking is just a nice touch, it also has nice looting progression from bridgefort since from my time in bridgefort ive probably picked over already most of the areas surrounding church on the hill and corner offices and loch and keough is in a deceptively barren part of the map. haha sorry for the most likely tldr posts.

@@GitGudFox So I was thinking, Ive never actually ran through the nitty gritty of what every single thing large slot and small slot buildings can provide and done a direct comparison as im mostly going off feel here, theres probably things ive overlooked and you do a ton of comparison videos, a small slot vs large slot video would be very interesting to see, like if you could only have 1 type in an end game sized base so let's say 8 slots (I think thats the norm), with all the requirements met for all the buildings (not like you can't swap out leaders over time anyway) and no builder boon which would end up being the most beneficial. Just a thought.

Then you should use them because they're the most powerful items in the game. You can never play to your full capability without them as all strategies without biochems is suboptimal.
