I understand why some fans might not get it - there's a modern focus on 'tekkers'. But what KK had was amazing awareness and proprioception, sense of space, incredible touch on terrible pitches with a threat of (by today's standards) violence all around you. And he produced, individually in partnerships, and in his teams. Then he had success as a (player) manager, and as a man. Living legend.

Seen Dalglish often when with Celtic ..Often shielded the baw with his erse ..Won tote on Celtic supporters bus once when picking out C10 from hat , this when Celtic won 0/1 away up in Aberdeen and who scored the goal C10 was Dalglish :) Ye top player he was for both Celtic and Scotland .

Amazing player. George Best compared him to De Stefano. Impossible to tell from Kenny highlights which foot was his strongest, top bins on either foot whenever he wanted.

It was only politics which stopped him being European Footballer of the Year. It was never awareded to British players. Unless the moved abroad. Kevin Keegan left Liverpool for Hamburg and won it twice even though Liverpool and Dalglish were the best in Europe. He had everything. Apart from the lightening speed of the likes of Mo Salah, or Ian Rush.

I saw him play about 40minutes for a "Liverpool 11" in John Aldridge's Tranmere testimonial at Prenton Park in 1996. Kenny was 45 at the time and was very slow but man he oozed class. One of the greats...PS. Do they still do testimonials?

You make it sound as if he couldn't dribble. He was an exceptional dribbler. The ball was glued to his feet. Didn't need to do all the fancy tricks and feints the modern players do, he ran at you, waited to see your response and went the opposite way. The way the likes of George Best and Maradonna and more recently, Messi did. Compare him to Neymar who will try and bamboozle you with fancy tricks. The best players don't need tricks.

Of his time, in the best way. No fancy tricks. Just complete control of the ball. He'd be even better today because he wouldn't be getting kicked and elbowed and the pitches wouldn't be lumpy and slow.
