I like to have a head canon where grain has no ‘evil’ or hels version of himself so is just somehow +the fact that he saved the pair of them himself that he gets along quite well with the ‘evil’ versions of the hermits.

That's actually kinda true if you think about it, NPG (NPC Grian) is typically made as his evil version, but grian himself made NPG, so the idea that grian doesn't truly have a evil side or is somehow both at the same time makes a lot of sense
