I am thrilled to have recently discovered your videos. My lifelong dream is coming true as I get my own horse in 1 month. A 6 yr old buckskin quarterhorse rescue. He is gorgeous, his personality is calm, and we bonded when 1st meeting. The woman I am getting him from says he has little training, so I've been watching your videos and soaking in the information. I don't know if the travel helped, the horse was scared to death of me throwing the rope over its back at the beginning, I think the application of pressure and the release of pressure is what made the change.

I noticed since I began using your techniques a few weeks ago my horse is all round better for example when I go to pick up her feet I just have to touch them and she picks up. I used to have to haul her feet up before

Now that he has recovered from a soundness issue I need to get back to groundwork. All he wants to do is wrap himself around me like a cat and follow me like a puppy. He did enjoy a ride Wednesday though and so did I. With a chilly wind he was feeling just full of himself.

My horse is used to all sorts of sounds. Should I still smack the whip on the ground or leave it since he’s desensitized to things? He associates the whip with lunging already before I got him.

Watch more videos, and you will find out. 😉 But mainly, they feed of your energy, so if you have established yourself as a "safe place" to the horse, it will usually check with you before freaking out.. Many people is scared of the horse becoming scared, or reacting to something, not understanding that they themselves are feeding the horse fear.. The horse can sense your fear, but not understanding what you are afraid of, it will be like telling the horse -There is something really scary/dangerous .... going on here. If it's a self confident horse, it will be like - Nah it isn't, I know.. While a uncertain horse will be tiptoeing looking for a monster in every shadow, in every leaf moving, in whatever... If your horse is showing concern about something, see where it's looking and what might scare it, when you figure out that it's the garbage cans, the horse will pick up your energy about those cans, and react from that.. I used to laugh at my horse, and she was like -Heeey it isn't that funny, I assure you, there was something there. And move on like nothing... So sometimes it is all up to you, but we also have those horses that has lost any bit of trust in people, and that's were you do the groundwork before even thinking about taking a ride. If you are able to listen, the horse itself will provide the information you need in how to handle the situation..
