Aqua, who was seen as a heavy favorite pre-tournament and was the other scary monster aside from Suisei, basically got no practice in before and was really out of form, which was the opening Gura and the others needed to place. With that being said though, Gura raced really well all tournament and placed above Towa in winner’s. Even had Aqua been in form Gura had a good chance of placing top 3 anyways.

Another funny thing is that in real life, group B was a really challenging race where there weren’t much restrictions on cars, so it was way too dangerous and canceled after a few years. edit: Today I ended up in an online race in a video game I had basically no chance of winning, all my opponents were in special racing cars and I just had my old beat up Toyota Celica. I was about to lose when it started raining mid race and the other cars went into the pits to change to rain tires, while I just blew past them with my treaded street tires. Eventually the fastest one of them caught up to me and passed me easily. In my head, Gura’s mariokart race (this video) came up in my head along with a scene from Initial D. I kept on driving faster in the rain even though I could barely see the road. In a sharp hairpin turn, the other car crashed into a barrier on the side of the road and was disqualified. Therefore I won. I’m still really happy about that.

They are very efficient in screwing each other over, unlike a group of bads who will all focus on taking you out. If you keep your head down and be seen as the least threatening person in the competition. You can just quietly exist and then go for the kill once everyone has beat each other up. To put it in doom. Gura started off relatively weak, but she had massive growth over time that she just needed one last thing to make her shine better; enjoying the race. Which is what she did on the tournament. Even though she just wanted to enjoy the race simply because she knew group B was full of beasts in Mario Kart, "enjoying the race" is how you win in Mario Kart.

Such an Anime thing for Gura to do. The B Group had alot more experienced players and Gura is just trying to not look bad.. but like an Anime, her first races were impressive... But then the others started taking her seriously.. and they tried to go for the win this time. But Gura still continued to hang on.. and the best part, like a good anime, she was in the top 3. She proved her abilities and in the next season, we'll await for her to take first place!
