First year of retirement challenges: 1. You’re healthy and strong, until you’re not. I had a sudden onset of three simultaneous health challenges. Recovering strength and dropping weight are tough challenges. Decide to work at fully recovering as fast as possible. 2. Find new friends. The world doesn’t care about what you used to do. This is the perfect opportunity to define yourself to a brand new set of friends. Be mindful of how you define yourself. 3. Enjoy yourself…what are you waiting for? You and the spouse are only getting older, so loosen up and spend some of that money you spent a lifetime accumulating. Good luck, and enjoy the ride. It’s a one way trip. Azul, thank you for giving us so many good things to think about.

Ham radio is a great way to make friends locally (get licensed and join a ham radio club) and also joining clubs that do things outdoors. Our local jet ski club goes for rides all summer long. All you need is a PWC or "Jet ski" to participate in group rides. Often involves eating lunch waterside restaurants and having a cold brew on an island during the ride. I have so many hobbies I enjoy that we don't have enough time to participate in working full time (boating/jet skis in the summer, hiking in the spring/fall, ham radio year round, playing musical instruments in groups). If we could do it financially would retire at 50 or cut back to 20 hrs (if that was an option for 1/2 the pay). Boating on a Monday, hiking in the moutains on a Tuesday, riding jet skis on a Wednesday, getting chores done on a Thrusday, going out to a movie on a Friday afternoon then a dinner date, going for an ATV ride on the weekend. hitting up the gym at 10am while everyone else is working... sounds like an amazing time to me. If you got bored could always drive some uber for a few hours here and there and pick up a few bucks while being out and about meeting people whenever you feel like it.

Keep in mind that this guy is on the public record as stating that we have a national debt when nothing could be further from the truth since we now electronically generate, ever since the 'formal' adoption of QE2 back in 2009, we the peoples' $s in order to meet federal expenditures without any real negative consequences and without the need to have even one cent of federal tax revenue $s being involved which. The fact of the matter is that it is impossible to borrow or payback, for that matter, to quote Fed Chairman Powell, we the peoples' electronically generated $s, thus the borrow/debt factor is negated, thus there really is no such thing as our having a national debt..., 100% guaranteed, and this guy doesn't have a clue.
