How hard can it be?...Audi TT mk3 Door Speaker Upgrade!

We go into detail how to change door speakers in Audi TT mk3 8s, explaining the whole process so you can do it yourself! I picked Focal ASE165 speakers for upgrade, but video applies to any other brand as long as you choose right size!

Hi mate, wonder why you decide not to change tweeters? Also what else you would add to improve sound in your car?

Hello! I chose not to swap the ones in dashboard since the focal tweeters dont fit. So I put them in doors, behind the handle. In the rear I have changed them. To have balanced high frequency tones :) Other than that, insulate the outer panels, doors, rear quater from inside... then add amplifier :D I am currently making couple more videos on rear speakers and amplifier install :D

How did you install the starlight? Was it easy? How much did it cost?

I made it myself. Bought the optic fiber on aliexpress, couple of white leds, and looots of work. Its not expensive it just takes so much time to do.

I heard you say that you upgraded the door boxes? Did that much of a difference from the standard flat panel installation? I imagine a better bass sound? Thank you.

To be honest I havent noticed a huge difference on any sound upgrade i did… it is always subtle changes and improvements… yes the bass should be better going to boxes from flat panels, but again, dont expect too much :/

@@audi_anatomy Thanks. I have ordered a couple of second hand speaker boxes from Germany to try them out. I’ll probably change one side then compare the left and right sound with the fader.

Hello Tim! Thank you so much!! The reason for leaving oem tweeters in dash is that they are quite shallow comparing to focals, or others, and fitting different tweeters there would require a bit of dremmeling.. and they are paper cone, which I have researched has a softer tone than aluminium cone of focal tweeters. So I wasnt sure if they are going to sound too sharp, therefore added them to doors in case I just didnt like them 🤗

@@audi_anatomy Thanks for the reply. So it is the depth that is too great and not the diameter? I noticed they fitted ok in the rear speaker video. I guess you have more clearance? I have to see how deep the BLAM ones are when they arrive. Looking forward to more videos! 👍

@@Nildefects yes, the place for oem tweeters is pretty shallow itself, thats the biggest issue for retrofit :) Thank you! New experiment is on the wayy
