How Hard Does a Giant Tortoise Bite??

In this video we will test the strength of a sulcata tortoise's bites. We will feed them a variety of food and see how easily they will bite through it!!

At what age do you suggest feeding carrots to the tortoises? Mine are still little, like 3 years old.

Tortoises can eat the same thing at any size the only difference is the food needs to be cut much smaller and be softer for the babies. For carrots I would do shavings or thin slices for a little one.

My California Mojave desert tortoise bites really hard. Sometimes I hand feed him and my finger gets in the way because he turns his head and he bit through the skin once. I think he could probably bite a whole finger off.

They eat daily, grass and leaves most days, and pellets Monday Wednesday and Friday
