Nope, you're not the only one. I start by laying traps, then my first shots are tearblast arrows taking off his back disc launchers. While hiding, he shoots his spread laser beam, to no effect. I follow with tearblast arrows blowing off his face cannons. Then, take it behind the wood shed like Old Yeller.

Mediocre game for me. I finished it. Didnt like it. Last boss was a total joke. I shot the shit out of that deathbringer taking cover snug beside a wall. It wasnt able to shoot me because of the dead angles that its stupid giant turret has. I shreded his right side and it did nothing to me. Boom! game over. Its is the most none ubisoft, ubisoft open world game you will ever play. The world transformations from snow covered rocks to a sandy fucking desert just after 1 minute of hiking.. . How is that for immersion... 10 out of 10?! Right. Then what is red dead redemption 2 and cyberpunk 2077 going to be? 15 out of 10? I regret buying it digital, because i cant sell it. I dont want it in my library.

Super Casal Xou Use fire arrows for bird type machines. And try and get the 3 arrows in one shot perk as quickly as possible. 3 fire arrows take the birds down very easily, it's extremely over powered. With the stormbirds it takes longer, but the fire arrows are very effective.

I like that the ultra hard mode makes the machines more aggressive, so the game is more challenging. It's not like a lot of games that the only thing that makes something "hard" it's that every attack received is a instakill. For them, the fact that an attack takes off all you hp is hard.

Hello! I love the Ultra Hard too. In the beggining was hard to play... but when i get better in the game i realized that Ultra Hard is the "Realistic" mode. Imagine to this people, living with all that metal monsters! People, including aloy, can easly die for a group od watchers, but in normal and easy mode even a thousand watchers is nothing!

I like difficulties were the player takes less damage to die, but so do the enemies. Combine that with more agressive AI and you have a pretty much "perfect" difficulty balance. If I'm not mistaken the Metro series do this. I hate when enemies do more damage but take 3x to kill.

Yes this. For example the laser guided very low orbital strike attack moves much faster than on normal difficulty. It's not impossible, it's just tighter. Also it seems it's less effective to blast off parts?

I run away constantly, and try to kill everything from a safe distance. I've never once tried to fight a Fireclaw up close, I snipe them, let them run back to their spawn point, and repeat this until they die, because I'm scared. If they run for me, I'm out of there. So I'm very concerned about how I'm going to beat New Game+, especially knowing there's some scripted fights, like the Daemonic Thunderjaw. Oh that reminds me, if I have allies in the battle, I almost always hide and let them take all the damage.

Like that one mission where you have to fight the two corrupters in that excavation site, I just shot at them from the top, hid behind a wall, and waited for them to go back to their spawn point.

@@Robin-dr5zp I know. That's why I said "if you know what you're doing." If you just jump in and have no idea what to do with it, you're extremely unlikely to live through it. Though if you stop and take the time to observe its weak points and make a plan as I did, you may have a chance so long as you're not too low a level. I waited until I was level 45 and had all the shadow weapons and outfits except the Lodge weapons, and I killed a TJ my first try. Just kept it tied down and didn't let it stay up for long. You don't need to be max level or anything like that.

Definitely takes some time. Most of it comes from Fast Traveling to random spots and taking on the machines there. Learning how they move (jump, charge, attack) and figuring out what bows fit the situation according to distance, armor, etc. So fun once you get the hang of it!

A quick tip for everyone killing a thunderjaw: just shoot the weapons on its back and theyll fall off. Then grab them, and fire with them. The thunderjaw will loose half of his health with just one weapon, and you have two. So, he's a very easy enemie to kill this way.

You're right--there was a trailer with that exact scene. It's still possible, but more difficult than rolling under the Tjaw. I learned that you can't time the slide the same as a roll; the trick is to slide early or else Aloy's upright and gets smacked by the Tjaw.

the worst part for me was that these big boys can actually detect you in tall grass. scrappers only detect movement and longlegs only scan whenever they are alerted, but thunderjaws can just find aloy even when she's not attacking it.

Having played both HZD and all DkS, I find the rolling in Dark Souls not so generous as in HZD, the timing in DkS must be much more precise, but in HZD you get this cat-and-mouse feeling you described, it is awesome!! Anyway, HZD actually gives me The Witcher 3 feel with the focus investigate and all the "study your enemy and prepare" before battle!! I just added a really chaotic battle video on my channel, involving an area with 2 Thunderjaws, 5 Tramplers, Lancehorns and Glinthalks, New Game+ Ultra Hard, of course haha!! it was great!!

Recently started to play this game from my PC. It's really beautiful and amazing. Btw I should say ultra hard difficulty is not hard as I thought but it's more challenging. I used shield weaver and it's not bad even if it's nerfed. I was at lvl.57. Only thing is you have to do more dodges, use the environment to your advantage and use different loadouts according to the enemy.

I just beat the game last night for the first time, 43 hours, on normal, and not counting bad falls I think I only died two or three times during combat. Then again I was never afraid to run from a bad situation, and I stayed well away from those big guys until I was well stocked on medicine, potions, and appropriate weapons. And I DON'T consider myself a skilled player in any way shape or form; I consider myself a cautious and patient player. If you need help with the Thunderjaw, use the advanced Sharpshot bow's tear arrows on the disk launchers, then use the rope caster to tie him down, grab one of the disk launchers and attack it. Repeat with the second launcher if he still has significant health. For now, Frozen Wild should be done downloading.

My strategy goes like this: 1: Put 3 tearblast arrows on bow and shoot off disc launcher instantly 2: Lure it away from disc launcher and tie it down with rope caster 3: Use disc launcher and make sure every disc hits 4: Repeat steps 1-3

It's a pretty good tactic if it works, you can position them to shoot at each other, I've even seen them lose agro on me after a bunch of rolls into a bush in stealth gear, and keep fighting each other afterwards because they accidentally damaged each other...

I love how this game lets you combine different types of weapons for different play styles. Genius level ninjas could just set traps everywhere and corrupt one of the thunderjaws and watch them go ham from a difference, freezing one and hitting it hard, or going og with the pulse arrows.... but seriously if you use a rope caster walk out of the room and don’t come back ;)

Rope caster is amazing, if nothing else it completely takes a target out of the fight for a solid minute... And you can load it with tear mods and each rope takes out a part...

Step 1: get the Ancient armour Step 2: use tear blast arrow early and remove both of the disc launchers Step 3: use explosive slingshots to destroy the mouth railgun Step 4: tie down thunderjaw using ropecaster Step 5: finish it by using disc launcher And there you've it. Ultra hard in this game isn't that difficult if which actually makes it super fun to play (Additional tip: if you've frozen wild dlc, use those weapons. They're more powerful and highly effective in ultra hard game mode)

Love both horizon zero dawn and monster hunter. Wish capcom would work together with guerilla to put thunderjaw into MHW. But that would mean only ps4 players get to hunt it.

I know I'm very late to this, but I just got the game. Here's a very, very easy way that works pretty well for me: 1. First of all, get that Shadow or Banuk tier weapons (specifically the Sharpshot, Blast Sling and, for easier killing, the Hunter or War Bow, all minimum Shadow tier) 2. Farm Shell-Walkers (detaching but not destroying its crate for extra loot) until you get some good stats very rare modifications. You can also farm Behemoths or Tramplers, or any other big machine. Or, if you don't want to do this, jump straight to step 3. It still works, although you will take longer to take them down. 3. If fighting two Thunderjaws, first get them closer and shoot Corruption Arrows to one until fully corrupted. With Shadow War Bow and 40%+ modifications all on corruption coil, it takes just 2 arrows. If you don't have this much power in your corruption, you are mostly likely to be seen by the Thunderjaw you're shooting and he will not fight its mate. With this technique and continuously pushing them to fight, you're getting a Thunderjaw down really easy, plus a really cool fight to clip and watch many times. Otherwise, if fighting one, do this: 1. Shoot your Tearblast arrows directly to its Disc Launchers first, then its armor that covers its heart. You can also detach its other components if you wish, but these two I said are the most important. You can do all this without being detected, by covering and moving from position each shot. Or you can just let them see you if you've got gear to take down its components really fast, like with Shadow/Banuk tier 40%+ modifications does. 2. Use the Disc Launchers against it. For extra damage, you can freeze him up before shooting. If you can shoot at its heart, better. 3. After running out of Disc ammo, use your Blast Sling to get him done. Freeze him for extra damage, or burn it up. Extra tip: always search for high ground. There is this less fun way to kill it, which consists in placing off lots of Blast wires with your Tripcaster near a patrolling Thunderjaw's path, then luring him in and boom. But it's quite as expensive or maybe more than the fun way. Even if not, man, this way is the funniest. You can farm them like this and get tons of good modifications. It's super fun and easy! These guys are actually pretty easy(outside of the one in the Frozen Wilds area), just max out the freeze stat of the elemental bow and shoot it until it's frozen, then switch to a damage bow and shoot it(try to hit the area right about the mouth for more damage, or the heart which is on it's sides after you remove the plate), repeat until it's dead... There are actually some areas where, if you stay there, it won't come chase after you and will only shoot you from afar or deploy those bombing probes! With the new Frozen Wilds Bows i can freeze it with 2 sets of 3 arrows, and then kill it before it even unfreezes.

I just got the Platinum trophy for this game, and did the dlc too. Do you know how fun it ia to watch *FOUR* frostclaw polar bears duke it out for the trophy that requires we kill 10 of them? I went through a crapload of corruption arrows, but oh was it sooo worth it! So fantastic lol. Easiest trophy ever lol! The fireclaw trophy on the other hand... ugh. Or do Cauldron Rho, wear stealth gear, override the first and bring the second one close.... Don't even need to fire a shot most of the time. If there's a ravager or sawtooth nearby, you can override two or three of them and kite the thunderjaw nearby... Stealth + overrides is kick ass in this game. Even for bandit camps, I'll just gather a bunch of mounts from nearby, bring them as close as possible to the gates, and start shooting from outside, then let the mounts mow them down as they run out... lol
