Great video, planning to apply later this year, incredibly difficult to find info on physical Nat Sci interviews on yt

hey Ray, I'm in y12 rn and since you said you were a physics graduate, i was wondering what kind of applied topics you covered, since I'm not sure whether physics or engineering is for me and i want to see how the two different disciplines look at the topics before I make a decision between the 2 so I can try and figure out which would be the better fit for my learning style

Hey! Thanks for the video bro - been invited to an Engineering interview at Trinity any tips ??

Sorry for the late reply! DM me on Instagram. I can probably connect you with an engineer who can give you better advice.

i thought cambridge only offers physics through natural sciences and not as its own course?

You’re right but the vast majority of people outside Cambridge don’t know that so it’s easier to say “I did physics” than “I did natural sciences specialising in physics”

yo ray, do u recommend an ipad for studying quality of life for a levels -ive heard its very good for stem subjects and i do maths fm chem

Hi Ray, once again an insightful and informative video . I was just wandering to study 'physics' or 'physics with philosophy' at a Russell group university if I would need an A - level in chemistry and as I didn't pick it, if it will put me at a disadvantage. I chose Physics, Maths , 'Philosophy,ethics and theology' - RE and will be doing an AS in further maths. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I'm glad to hear it! And it shouldn't put you at a disavantage -- there was almost no chemistry required for the physics courses I took at university. And any chemistry that was required, you'd learn the basics then and there. For subjects like Natural Sciences @ Cambridge, they do seem to have a preference for people who've done 2 science subjects (ie, two of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Computer Science). But I don't think that's the case everywhere. You should try emailing the admissions departments of some of the universities you're interested in and asking them and they'll know best (if you're emailing Oxford then it'd help to email some individual colleges instead of general departments or the university).

@@RAmjad thanks man , I''ll try to email the admission departments.

Ray, out of curiosity, ik its 5 years ago, but if u remember, for each of the 3 interviews, what were ur scores and also, what was ur admissions test score if u know(nsaa if it was or something else)
@RAmjad9 ай бұрын
Ah. I never asked for my scores. I know some of my friends did after getting accepted and the term had started but I didn't see a point in asking because I thought, "Well. We're all at the same place so why does it matter. Also, we won't know what's considered a good score as I won't know the scores of my peers."
@jobayerkhan7989 ай бұрын
Oh I see. But, do u know ur friends interview scores and maybe their admissions test score too, cos last week, I had 2 CS interviews in cambridge and although I feel I've done much much better in the 2nd interview, I still feel uncertain at that point as my 1st interview wasnt too great, kinda mid, and it's like u said, people saying they done bad at interviews got offers and good at interviews get rejected (dont know if that's a myth). I mean if bad interview performance get offers, like would it be cos of contextual or admissions test performance as hollistic approach yk?@@RAmjad

Oh sorry ray, nevermind my message, its just I didnt read the last sentence u said

I think there's little to no correlation between how someone judges their own interview performance vs how their interviewer's judged it. Almost no one I met at Cambridge felt like their interviews were great. Many thought they were both meh. Others thought both were bad. Some thought one was great, another was awful. It's very mixed. Someone from my Sixth Form applied to Law at Cambridge in the same year as me and afterwards, he was bragging about how easy it was. But a month later, he got rejected.
