Yes mate absolutely! My partner got it issued from the London embassy. Had to jump through a few hoops but all in all relatively straight forward. Work contract, written letter from employer confirming her eligibility, and had to switch some funds from an investment account to a standard current account and it was done in 3 days! The kids got theirs on the back of it, issued in 2 days flat with little more than birth certs and payment of the fee! We’re here now, loving life in Hua Hin 👍🏻

Theoretically after the DTV visa issuance you can close your home company and keep moving every 5,5 months and don't pay any taxes anywhere. But you have to keep moving and need a smart business. This remote worker visa as others is not meant for actually living long-term in the country and you should'nt, only for regular extended stays. I would much rather open a company and go all-in as I did in Indonesia in order to finally get a permanent residence that you can rely on and not be worried. But I'm not a nomad.
@adamparker213 ай бұрын
I agree in that setting up a full on Local Company is still a good option. Particularly for those wanting to put themselves on the path to Permanent Residency and eventually, citizenship (in the case of Thailand anyways). But having said that, you don’t need to have a company in your Home Country or in a high-tax jurisdiction to get this Visa. You could have a company in Hong Kong, Singapore, or another low-tax (or no tax) jurisdiction and have your business run through there while you operate it remotely from Thailand on a DTV (as long as you don’t have Thai customers, Thai partners, Thai employees, transact in Thailand, etc.) I have a bunch of friends here in Bangkok that did exactly this. They’ll still need to file a tax return here in Thailand as they spend more than 180 days per year here… but they don’t remit funds into a Thai Bank Account to cover their cost of living. That’s where the proof will be in the pudding as far as potential taxes owed in Thailand go. ie. - what is the true definition of “Remittance” in the eyes of the Tax Office. I’m not sure how that side of things will play out yet. Either way, no matter how you slice the pie… those wanting to put themselves on a real long-term path here in Thailand are still best setting up a legitimate Company here IMO. Would love to check out Indonesia at some point!

Have you found any resource online with a document example of the employment letter? My employee needs to know what exactly needs to be included to satisfy the purpose of the letter. 2. I know a lot is still unknown but is it your understanding that with one 180 day stamp you can leave as many times as you want or every time you re-enter you have to pay for a new 180 day stamp. Example- planning to move to BKK mid January or start of Feb. have to fly back to the states in May for a wedding. Will I have to pay for a new 180 days even though my first stamp will have only been about 90? I hope that makes sense! Thank you again

Your comment lack of commonsense, how can general normal people stay for years without working? Their money can fall from the sky or what? unless they are rich then they can apply for elite Visa with expensive fee or they are people who work online with income from overseas which they can apply for DTV Visa or they are retiree who have pension or passive income so they can apply for retired VISA, or they are general tourists who want to spend vacation in Thailand which they can come for free for 60+30 days, or they are people who want to work in Thailand so they gonna get the work permit Visa. Thailand have all the option and you still complain? If you just let any foreigners come to your country for years without prove of income how can you know that people will not become criminal? or gonna work in Thailand illegally? There are many English teachers ( and many other jobs) who work in Thailand illegally without work permit, they don’t have any certificate for teaching and they don’t pay tax.

@adamparker214 ай бұрын
At this point, there doesn’t seem to be any sort of specific timeframe you need to show you’ve had the 500,000 Baht for. Tim just showed 6-months worth of Bank Statements to be safe and basically prove to them that he wasn’t simply borrowing money from someone, printing out a bank statement, and then transferring the money out. This isn’t a requirement though. He just did it to minimize risk of the Thai Embassy asking for further documentation. As far as Income goes, at this point… there is no Income requirement.
@samfuel3 ай бұрын
I think you've misunderstood the requirement. The requirement is that you have a balance equivalent to 500,000 baht. The interviewee showed bank statements showing that their balance exceeded the equivalent of 500,000 baht for the previous 6 months. If you're applying from the U.S. then you will need to have a bank balance of at least $15,000 USD, from Europe it would be €13,500. Some embassies ask for a single bank statement showing the balance at the time of the application (and they do not care how the money go there, or when) whereas other more strict embassies ask for multiple historic bank statements to show the balance has remained stable over time.

I was under the impression that the DTV holder was required to exit Thailand at, or before, 180 days and then re-enter to start another 180 days? Is that not the case? And what about Immigration reporting during the 180 days? Is the holder required to do 90 reporting? And i presume, at some point, the holder will be required to prove they still meet the issuance requirements in order to keep the visa valid, maybe after 1 year? Or every year?
@ThePatriot-gm1fg3 ай бұрын
Yes, 180 days per entry. No, eligibility does not need to proven after 1 year. The visa lasts for 5 years.
@QuicknStraight3 ай бұрын
@@ThePatriot-gm1fg They say that now, but let's see what they say next year...
@ThePatriot-gm1fg3 ай бұрын
@QuicknStraight Nah. That's how the visa works. Same as any multiple entry non immigrant visa. Can be used for continuous residence as long as you do the required border runs. Ideally, you'd spend a few days out of country on each trip but no one is going to tell you that you can't come back in on one. The DTV will be the same.

@@ThePatriot-gm1fg Well, for all those who have jumped on the DTV early, I hope you're right, although they have the habit of changing conditions at the drop of a hat!

Within the context of the DTV, the often cited examples are things like Muay Thai courses, Thai cooking courses or medical tourism. Really, it's things that promote Thailand on the world stage. While it's still an unknown, I wouldn't be surprised though if immigration would ask those who have their visa issued for soft power activities for proof that they are still engaged in those on both extension and entry. I think it's a bit naïve of people to think they'll be allowed to live in Thailand for 5 years with a 6 month Muay Thai course they purchased once.
@maniac-693 ай бұрын
I'm curious if they need proof that you're training Muay Thai or doing some education and also does this replace the education Visa? Oh and I read the extension is 1900.

I have to say, the way I got to know Thailand, the visa isn't quite ready yet and who knows what's to come, I could also imagine that there's still a U-turn. Who knows, maybe the extension will be combined with a tax return or something like that? We will find out with the time 😂😂😂

Having and paying for a visa is one thing but having to pay the tax on money bringing into Thailand is devastating and will discourage people from living in Thailand.

Exactly, nobody likes to talk about that 😂 Theoretically after the visa issuance you can close your home company and keep moving every 6 months and don't pay any taxes anywhere. Why would you pay high taxes in your home country if you don't often live there? These remote worker visas many countries offer are no longterm solution.

Will they owe taxes in Thailand? Their new tax laws make many expats wary..
@adamparker213 ай бұрын
If people spend more than 180-Days per year in Thailand, that makes them a tax resident and they're supposed to file a Thai Tax Return in this case. As far as actually owing money goes... it depends on where that person comes from, the source of their foreign income, the nature of their foreign income (ie. Social Security, Rental Income, Earned Income through Employment, etc.), and then what the specifics say in the Double Taxation Agreements between Thailand and the corresponding Countries at play. People should consult with a Tax Attorney here in Thailand for all these things as each case is different.

No need for it to sit in your account for too long, except if you apply in Laos. Get it quick, because most countries are moving to e-visas by the end of the year.

180 days You have 2 choice. 1. Extend your visa at immigration office 180 days for 1900 baht. 2. If you exit and enter Thailand before 180 days , the clock date start count day 1 again. You don't have to pay fee for extend visa. Both 2 ways , 5 years valid.
