Your absolutely right I figured they couldn't fly because of their tail, where I am from Peacocks are not so common and can only be seen in a Zoo or a Farm possibly in the outskirts of our city so I never got to see one fly let alone know it could. Needless to say now I'm all over KZbin watching this Majestic beauties soar through the skies!

Try to forget what you learned cause it's wrong. They can jump/leap while using a wing flapping motion that makes it look like they fly but can't. They look more convincing when coming down and gliding a long way but you'll never see a peacock with a 5 foot tail which is bigger than their whole body actually fly. Jump 40 to 50 feet while flapping wings all the time but that's it.

@@viov1975 I have seen a peacock with full train feathers fly up a 13 storey building, so that is not a jump, it is actual flying!

I didn’t know they could fly until I saw one at a farm taking off at ground level and perching on a shed roof. It’s tail looked a bit cumbersome though.

They fly very wellwith the big tail feathers and just as well when they fall out at the end of summer...thanks for the view...
