Hey Dallas, Thanks for your kind words, glad you like my vid clip. I started out jazz self taught and later studied with the late great jazz teacher Warren Nunes. That opened a whole new world of playing for me.

Thank you Andres for viewing and commenting. I generally play a Bm form over the Gmaj7, a BbMa7 form over the Gmin7, I'm not familiar at all with the modal system, I was taught by my teacher Warren Nunes to analyze the tone centers that the ii v I's belong to and play the associated scales and arpeggios. His method was quite different from most other players. Hope that helps explain a little. You can contact me at my email for further questions or help: eslastra@gmail.com Best Regards, Eddie

HI Eddie, I've a 8 jazz guitar lessons by Warren Nunes , but I didn't get its audio anywhere, just the partitures; so I've been studying them on my way. Would be possible that you'll play them and to put it on youtube ? thanks.
@EddieLastra10 жыл бұрын
hi alvaro, what is the title of the book that the Warren Nunes lessons came from? I might be able to help you get the audio. I thought about posting video clips of of some of those lessons, was not sure if there was any interest in them
@corvusXXIcentury10 жыл бұрын
Eddie , I found two books of him at U.de A. library from Medellin, Colombia, so I photocopied them 10 years ago. and just a few months ago I knew who was him by the web ; one of them is a blue method,and another a jazz method with lesson 34 ( exercise 1) to lesson 42 (exercise 8) , there aren't anymore titles on those books ; of course these lessons are very interesting for us, the jazz guitar students of the college.

Hi Eddie! What do you mean by form? Arpeggio? I don't understand why do you use the iii over the Imaj7 (bm ver Gmaj7) I Know they share chord tones but how does it works? This approach you are talking about? Same thing with the G minor haha.please can you help me with this? I'm really interested in this approach

+José Rubens Thanks, my hands were a bit faster when I was younger, but in my older age arthritis really has really slowed them down, but then that has made me focus more working on good tone and musicality

Hi Eddie, what guitar is that?
@EddieLastra10 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennie, that is an old Epiphone Emperor II, currently sold as the Epiphone 'Joe Pass' model
@jensclarberg64198 жыл бұрын
I'd say don't worry about playing slowly its completely fine. I think you have nice ideas but need to rest more to really make them stand out, constant 8th notes makes it quite dreary to listen to even if you had nice licks. You play over the chords well but sometimes I feel like the form was slightly lost and you needed to approach the chord tones better.
@horbergus10 жыл бұрын
You're good, but you should practice timing, and even more important, swing! At this point, your playing pretty straight 8th notes, listen to how the great players played and articulated their 8th notes and learn by listening. Otherwise great, nice clean and interesting playing.
@EddieLastra10 жыл бұрын
hobergus, Thanks for your advice and tips. I'm working on those very things now, hopefully my future video clips will show a little more swing and articulation. Always something to work on in this jazz stuff... :) ~Eddie
