Even though R* has virtually given up on this game, I'm glad that you and this community hasn't. It's wild that creators can still make very intriguing videos on a game that's 5 years old and the community remains to stay engaged. It makes me wonder all the more why R* seemingly gave up on updating the game or creating DLC for it.

You dug really well into what Schiffer Beer could be inspired by. Out of universe, the name itself is very similar to Pisswasser in the GTA games. "Pisswasser" is german and means "piss water", while "Schiffer" relates to "schiffen", which is a common though slightly old school way of saying "peeing" in Austria and some parts of Germany. A "Schiffer" would then be someone who is peeing. Sorry to drag the quality of conversation down like this, I just get excited when I can share some knowledge from my corner of the world.

You said that the Schofield revolver is a "recreation" of the S&W nro. 3 revolver in the game, but the Schofield revolver is actually a real gun in real life, a different version of the nro. 3 revolver. The Schofield revolver is an improved version of the nro. 3, specifically for cavalrymen. It came out in 1875, whereas the original nro. 3 came out in 1870. You should read up on this.

The gunslingers mission is probably my favorite. Everyone talks down on Calloway and claim that he's a braggart and a blowhard but at the end he demonstrates that he hates having his exploits exaggerated, dislikes dishonorable combat and his skills are the real deal; if you try to duel him normally, you will lose. Also interesting, everyone else you meet and fight in this mission chain uses some sort of underhanded tactic, while Calloway does not.

I’ve done extensive research on John Wesley Hardin, and I can comfortably say Calloway is not based on Hardin. Hardin was no slouch with a gun, he just might’ve been the most dangerous man you could’ve found yourself against back then. He’s said to have killed up to 42 men, but modern historians say it’s likely more around a couple dozen, it could’ve easily been more than that. Calloway is portrayed as a coward and not as good as the legends portray, which couldn’t be farther from the truth with Hardin. He’s even said to have outdrew Wild Bill Hickock in Abilene Kansas before he killed the snoring man.

I always figured that the gunslinger mission strand was somewhat inspired after "The Unforgiven." However, no doubt that Billy Midnight and Black Belle are based on the people you've mentioned.
@KC.4511 ай бұрын
The side-quest is indeed inspired by Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven", however, some gunslingers are derived from real-life Old West icons, including Belle Starr, Robert Ford, and Wyatt Earp, but some like Calloway or, perhaps Frank Heck, are an amalgam of both fictional characters and real characters, such as Wild Bill Hickok and John Wesley Hardin.
@12227UserName11 ай бұрын
@@KC.45 Good to see that I ain't the only one who noticed the correlation.
@12227UserName11 ай бұрын
@@KC.45 Frank Heck was taken out of the game. It does seem there's certainly a possibility that he was based on Wild Bill. But since he wasn't put in the game, and for whatever reason there also seems to be similarities to Jesse James or his brother, I think it's too vague to get a definitive inspiration for the character. And yes, I know he was originally meant to be killed while playing poker.
