As BJP & KCR, Owaisi fight over calling September 17, 'Hyderabad Liberation Day' or 'National Integration Day', in episode 1070 of #CutTheClutter, Shekhar Gupta explains the history of Hyderabad, how the province which was once bigger than Telangana & Andhra Pradesh put together, 'joined' India 75 years ago.

Razakars wiped out entire villages on suspicion of treason. Nizam banned use of Telugu in a majority telugu speaking state. Until independence and medium of instruction in the state was urdu. He also banned usage of Indian traditional clothes in the late 30s. One OU student led a protest and was rusticated . The state even wrote letters to various univs accross to ban those students. However a college in pune took pity on him and offered a seat. Later on the man would become the PM of India

As per her memory, there are mass rapes, looting and killing by Razakars frequently. women in villages used to carry chilli powder in sari’s to protect themselves from rape. My grate grandfather killed a Razakar militant and as a result was hunted. But he luckily escaped until Hyderabad was liberated. Kudos to Sekhar Guptaji. He did full justice to his pseudo secular, Left illiberal masters. He quotes Guha and El Edroos, but fails to read End of An Era by KM Munshi, Hyderabad Liberation Saga by VH Desai (published by PV Narasimha Rao's Ramananda teertha Trust, the man who he adores to no end)or even the biography by Swami Ramananda Teertha, who led the Hyderabad State Congress). Aleast he could have read the books written by communists like P Sundaraiah and DV (both available in English) His longish story is full of inaccuracies. He hasn't spoken a word about Congress struggle, the role of Arya Samaj, the part played by Hindu Mahasabha of Savarkar and RSS led by Vavilala Veerabhadra Rao. The problem is reading up a couple of books written by people who haven't visited Hyderabad, cannot reveal the whole Hyderabad story. At one place, he says that Nehru threatened to send the Indian Army to Hyderabad. Know when he said that? Not when thousands of villages were pillaged and plundered. Not when countless women were raped. Not when thousands were killed. But, when a couple of Christian nuns were raped. You may have reservations about calling Hyderabad's liberation a liberation, but at least speak without factual inaccuracies.

My family on the other side of Krishna river saw 100s of Hindu dead bodies come ashore. Raping, pillaging went unabated for months #2) Armed communist resistance against Nizam. Thus is why no one trusts you guys SG!!! Before you ask for money, do some real unbiased reporting. You were happy to tell us how many Muslims died post-military action. As native of Hyderabad I am really disappointed in the way this moment in history has been explained here. The research done here is really poor as I have found many errors and omissions in the video. I will not dwell into the minor errors, as I am willing to excuse The Print, we southerners are used to it by now. But what can’t be excused is the way the so called “riots” of 1947-48 have been described in the video. The atrocities committed by the razakars were not mere riots as Shekar puts it, it was systematic state backed attempt to convert or eliminate the Hindu population of the Hyderabad state. The research team should read upon the objectives of the razakars in 1947-48 before brushing aside the atrocities faced by almost all Hindu families of Hyderabad state as mere riots and omitting all the details. Lakhs of Hindus were massacred in Hyderabad and no Hindu family has survived this time unscathed. You have mentioned the death toll attributed to the Hindus after or during operation polo but failed to mention anything about the lakhs of Hindus slaughtered by the razakars. This is really disappointing and makes me wonder if rest of the reports done by The Print also contain similar biases and are based on limited/flawed research.

You know now, whether Muslims first or India first for him.You spoke about death of 27000 muslims, but did not say how many Hindus had died. The Razakars had commenced raids and atrocities against the Hindus long before the army entered the State of Hyderabad. I recall that Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge himself was a lone surviving child of a family destroyed by Razakar Rais. No numbers are put on the number of Hindus dead, as was the case with Mopla Genocide, or partition genocide. Hindu lives matter. So also the dead Hindus.

Similarly, Kashmir is more important than the North East and SG is the rare journalist who gives some coverage to the North East Our journalists think of Pakistan as very important neighbour ignoring that ,in reality, it is less important than Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The only reason for the weightage to Pakistan is its proximity to Delhi. It is just a continuation of our history books focusing on irrelevant minor kings like the Lodhis or Md Bin Tughlak but ignoring Krishna Deva Raya whose empire was several times that of the Delhi based Sultanates

Of India, including Sardar Patel were more bothered about Kashmir and let rape, pillage and murder of Hindus in Telangana. Many feel that by the time the Indian Army arrived the internal rebellion aided by communists, drained out Nawab's troops. Nehru and Sardar Patel, were only interested in land grab and not the people. The local revolutionary music even today depicts the Nawab's atrocities. Telangana people are a brave lot. Even today, all we do is we pay GST & taxes while they use South Indian money to feed North states. Liberation Day has long been celebrated in the Marathwada region (the Marathi-speaking region of the Hyderabad state), as the मराठवाडा मुक्तिदिवस. Goa and the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu have been celebrating their respective "liberation" from the Portuguese on 19 December and 2 August every year, and the Christians and the Portuguese don't seem to have any problem with it. Then why should Pakistan, the Owaisi family and the Muslims have a problem with calling it "liberation"?

I think a major difference is that a substantial no. of Catholics in Goa were active participants in the protests against Portugese. The latter had brutalised new converts during the very long period of inquisition. In Hyderabad, Mr. Owaisi's ancestors were actually oppressors and it serves their interest to whitewash history.

I'm a Goan Majorly most goans suffered under colonial rule irrespective of religion. They suffered under the zamindar who were Brahmin of both faith. Many Christians fled to Mumbai to escape poverty n distress in Goa That is y non Brahmin Christians fully supported India n are loyal to India

A small pedantic correction, AK-47 did exist in 1948. The 47 refers to 1947, the year the rifle came into existence.

The screen time that RW Hindi media gives to Owaisi is disastrous for India. He'll only increase his lok sabha share and create mini Pakistan's in India. That buffoon razakar quotes the constitution to establish Sharia above constitution itself. I just hope we don't easily forget the sacrifice that were made for Hyd liberation. The rapes, torture caused by monsters razakars should also be remembered by us.

@@aryanhassan4659 Hindu rashtra isnt bad though. It is Islam that raped our culture & not otherwise. Lol! Muslims say a lot of derogatory things about our God's and get away! They play victim card always, like you doing now. You talk about our union ministers, I can call out ten other names from your peaceful community! I honestly request you to move to a country with Shariah laws. That way, you live peacefully among your own. And pls don't talk about secularism, democracy! Wrong hadith? God knows what's right and wrong? You pls quote the right one? Pls also mention the exact age of marriage, if you can?

One should be an idiot to call it as an INTEGRATION because history and people experiences shows clearly that Nizam was ruthless with Hindus and tried his best to join with Pakistan. It was just liberated because of Iron man of India.
