How I 100%'d Stardew In a Day

I did a speedrun to obtain perfect and here's how it went!
This video has a bit of a different style, with most of it being scripted, but I think it turned out fine still. I also had a few technical problems that I was too annoyed to fix so if the audio stutters or repeats for a moment, I'm sorry. It should only happen 2-3 times total.

when i saw "in a day" i was expecting a "i use this glitch that everyone knows to give me everything on the first of spring" which wouldve been boring, obviously. and then in the introduction i hear "this will be a glitchless speedrun" O_O gg! i might try this run at some point, probably gonna split it in two tho i can barely do 18 hour runs XD (may not be src viable, but if the point of speedrunning was to "be verified on src" i wouldve quite speedrunning years ago)

Segmented runs are a thing! Runs with allowed breaks are a thing! We really should normalize more long runs allowing chunked progress and not requiring people to destroy their health for a "legit" RTA time. The rules on SRC are what the SRC page's mods decide. If perfection is made a category, I'd argue to allow splitting it into segments, and I guess require streaming live to combat people trying to stitch out day resets.

I love TheHaboo and watch his speed runs all the time. I am, however, not super chill with the clickbait title. It wasn't in a day. It was in 28 gaming hours spread over multiple days. Is that really cool and impressive and not something I could do? Heck yes. But saying he did something in a day when there's no part of this that happened in a day is pretty disingenuous and that makes me sad because TheHaboo is such an amazing speedrunner and did something really cool here. Someone being upset with false advertising isn't being jealous. It's wanting the really cool thing TheHaboo did here appreciated for what it is not to be bait and switched. The assumption that people are "simply envious" when they are told one thing and given another shows a pretty shallow understanding of why folks would be upset and the psychology of why clickbait titles upset and/or disappoint folks.

From the perspective of being a youtuber/streamer, I think you could have made more of a production out of this. If it was hard enough that you couldn't do it in 24 hours on the first try, then that just means you could have made a bunch of videos cataloguing possible improvements and figuring out how to make it faster. I mean, I'd way rather tune in regularly to watch a perfection speedrun than watch hot peppers grow, even if it'll never be on GDQ. Also, while I do think it's interesting hearing about how to manipulate rng elements to get what you want and that they should be a part of the speedrun, I would also like to hear about the stuff you struggled with, and where you think the biggest gains can be made for anyone who tries to improve on your time. I really like learning about the incremental improvements people do to improve stuff like this.

Idea for next challenge: do a run where you can't interact with villagers (or maybe any npcs including vendors), outside of cutscenes. So that if you're in their vicinity, you have to remove yourself from that screen. So it's kind of like stuck on the farm run, but you can go to the community center at night and totem to desert (no bus, Pam is there), etc. No idea if it can be done. No tool upgrades... No animals... No farm buildings...
