Thanks,Roy. Good to have a different aspect of things. Busting to see how the treated matrix turns out. The stuff is amazing. A little bit of powder. A little bit of paint. Makes a little devil, look a little saint! LOL Have a wonderful day, Roy. Still dry in Dimboola. No rain this year!

You should have rain hitting in the next day or so it was a pretty hefty storm here in Adelaide last night. Only 20,000 houses lost power.

I think it was more interesting to me that it had never clicked that I filmed in a strange positioning so the camera view was not actually my view.

I might do a video filming me from further away so people can see both a carving video but also my general posture, positioning and handling. Never tried that before but could be useful. Maybe even for me if I see something I should change/fix.

Glad for the clarification. I need all the tips I can get. It’s been a minute since I’ve been able to carve. Hopefully I can get back on it soon.

I couldn't imagine not carving for longer than 3-4 days! I think you'll still have the skills locked in there somewhere though. Like riding a bike... I wonder if I can still ride a bike? Been 15 years probably.

@@RoysRocks that’s too funny. I’ve had to put everything on hold since my dad got so sick. He has improved significantly and I feel better about being outside for extended periods of time. Now I’m playing catch up.

Thanks for another informative video. Did you make the glass box you dremel in? I went down to bunnings, grabbed a free big box, cut it out in a way that I could sit and do my dremeling in and the sides of the box catch all the sand and spray. I pulled apart an old lamp, cut a hole in top of the box and sat the globe in. I also layed the whole inner box with alfoil so the light hits from every direction and I can see what I'm doing.

Nah literally a rectangular fish tank that I smashed the bottom out of with a hammer. You could consider that "making it" I suppose... Sounds like you've taken much more effort and actually made something so I wouldn't say I "made" mine.

Interesting video.. yeah the position in which we sit is all different.. and I prefer to hold the flex shaft dremel and move it around for cutting vs putting it in a vise and such.. u dont know if it gives me a better feel or closer to the cutting process to each their own...

I'm with you. I tried clamping but then it is like you have a tiny cabbing wheel rather than carving. Some people really like clamping though which is surprising to me.

Great video. Hey man how do you know which stensal to use? Like are there industry standards for dimentions? Where would you find these?
@RoysRocks
@RoysRocks 2 ай бұрын
I freeform most of the time but if I do stencil I use cheap crappy ones for a basic shape but in the end tweak them to hit a round figure in mm (cheap stencils are not the dimensions that are written on them). There are common sizes that I guess you could consider "industry standards". You'll recognize them if you look at buying premade settings or search for "calibrated cabochons".

@@RoysRocks thats what I do as well since I use dremmel. I thought calibrated stones of a standard size would be easier to sell. I bought an oval stainless steel stensal but the dimensions seem weird.

Howdy, how big is that box you using? just remembered I have a sheet of Perspex in the garage I can use, just need to go get some aluminum angle. Been a struggle to keep water from flying everywhere.

Let me measure... 26x36x22 (all in cm). 22x36 sides open. If I were to go custom I would probably not have such large open sides to stop a bit more from escaping thought that is rare.
