You're roughly the same age as me. I've done 70 sets per week at roughly the same age. You would be surprised what you can manage provided you gather momentum gradually and increase volume over time like a drip to get that high (not that I recommend 70 sets per week, per se) Your mileage may vary too, but it's an example that age is overrated in some instances.

Right, rn I plan to just run smolov jr again and again with a deload between each cycle for squats. Similar idea I think, very simple programming but just a lot of stimulus.

@@mattvena226ok, I’m motivated then. I think eventually it might be attainable then. Not sure about 100 days though. Give me at least six months to a year. I’m at 405lbs PR right now. I think squats have helped me as I’ve consistently done that for over a year now. Therefore it’s now time I add deadlifts back into my workout. Thanks.

Looking at the program right now... Looks nice and straightforward, just how I like them! Any suggestion on the rest periods though? At my level of strength (455 lbs), age (45) and based on my last workout with lots of doubles and triples, I'd be tempted to say that, up until week 7 or so, 3 minutes would be sufficient, but after that, I'd most likely need 5-6 minutes if I want to keep going until the end without getting sick or injured! What do you guys think? And what about you coach?

These were just your beginner gains though no? I did a similar thing where I added 70 lbs to my deadlift in about 80 days (also in 2015 btw). It was just the first time I was actually pushing myself hard while performing the lifts. I only trained 3x a week and only deadlifted once a week. I also was not bulking, so i made those gains while staying the same weight. I think people like to overcomplicate things when you just have to exert more effort and actually lift weights that are challenging. It's not until you get towards elite numbers that you need to focus on weaknesses and manage fatigue more carefully.

Experience level helped but I still did start with a 405lbs deadlift and 2.5 years lifting, wasn’t exactly a beginner
@THExJMC
@THExJMC 5 күн бұрын
@ not a complete beginner but id still classify it as those type of gains that just happen because youre relatively new. Idk how you were training prior but i have almost the exact same training history where i started lifting in 2012 summer and it was about 2.5 years of lifting before i started making huge strength progress. I was doing really random stuff and not trying very hard for those first 2.5 years. I was deadlifting 315 for reps within a couple weeks of training and i pretty much kept doing the same 315 for 2.5 years because I had weak grip, no chalk and just wasnt trying that hard. One day i tried maxing out and hit 430 lbs and by simply lifting with correct effort, got to the 500 lb deadlift in those 80 days. I classify it as the beginner gains that i never realized in my first 2.5 years because i just wasnt pushing myself.

@@nowayitskendo no, you haven't heard them say "Shitco". Your ears can't differentiate the sounds so you assume the closest one in your language, and it's not that.
