Here’s a tip: annotating doesn’t have to be “aesthetic” in order to be good. If that’s how you want your annotations to be, that’s fine. But personally, I just use a plain pencil to underline parts I had strong reactions to and write down my thoughts next to them. I don’t think it looks as pretty as other people’s annotated books, but it makes me happy, so I really don’t care. Just do what makes you happy.

I definitely switch my system and I honestly think it just depends on the book. I love how everyone's annotating system is different and unique to each person. I find it interesting how many people match their tabs to the covers. Loved the video and your explanations!

Annotating is definitely a whole other kind of hobby 😂 Most books I'm pretty chill about how I annotate but if its something I really care about then you best believe I'm turning the pages into masterpieces that'll make Michaelangelo roll in his grave!

if you dont like the highlighters to bleed, the frixion pastel highlighters are really nice! they're erasable too and dont bleed through the pages at all!!

I don’t do much to annotate. Just underline what stands out to me, positive or negative and I’ll put my thought next to it. From Oct-Jan I tried using post-its but that was for my book updates on my ig highlight. I gave up on that and just underline and occasionally highlight in my books😂

This was a fun video to watch! If you’re looking for more highlighters that don’t bleed through (mostly) on cheaper paper (like mass market paperback books), try Pilot Frixion highlighters. They’re drier and they have soft colors similar to the mildliners. I’ve gotten mine from Staples and Michael’s craft store. :) I love the tabs you got! Thanks for the video :)

Personally I HATE drawing in my books so i just get a tabbing system going ( e.g happy moments, sad moments, quotes) and I’m pretty happy with that lol

i love detective mystery book, so it's important for me to annotate especially some of the clues in the story. and i'm the type who uses several colors that match the cover, to indicate something happy or sad, some quotes and so on. i love to do it, and seeing books that have been annotated makes me happy. but i still don't want to have pen or highlighter in my book haha, i only use transparent sticky notes if I have to write something but rarely do, never write in my book

My system varies from book to book: when I was reading IT since it had really thin pages i used pencil and tried to write only on the tabs. In books that I am in LOVE I use highlighters and pens and with books i am not as crazy i only ise pencil (so I can erase it later and sell it/give it away if needed).

I use highlighters that you can use for Bibles. Because Bibles are so thin that they don't bleed through any page.

I’d love to annotate my books but I do know how to do that i allways give my books to friends, family donations after I’m finished with them so I say why bother, I’ve seen a lot of videos of annotating books I’ve been an on and off avid reader through life and just taken back in in since 2020, I never by second hand books, the plb is I never know I never know what to annotate.
