I appreciate the Layla love! She’s definitely on par with zhongli with enough investment. The only caveat is that her shield is too short for long rotations. But she works just fine with shorter rotations.

Laylas shield is pretty awesome! I used her for a long time until I got Zhongli bcz I- unfortunately- have to say that Zhongli is definitely better. Still, a good shot on Layla is sacrificial sword cuz it gives her extra shields.

Don’t fool yourself. Zhongli is substantially better. This is coming from someone with a built c6 layla. The shorter duration makes her shield way worse, but it also isn’t as durable. Not to mention the other perks zhongli brings that way outshine layla’s other attributes. Layla is still good, but in no world is she on par with Zhongli.

@@AnthemTD but what you can’t forget is the cryo application she gives. It is pretty consistent if you build her on burst, I did, bcz there is no hp 4* or 3* weapon so I gave her sacrificial and she had a 100% burst uptime. For example when I was playing with my friends, a Diluc Main and a Yoimiya Main and I played Layla (against Raiden shogun) and she provided a very good cryo application for both mains. So in a list of situations Layla is arguably better. She also has an easier accessible coop shield.

I love this. I’ve always been a believer that any character can be used for the game with enough investment. Which means you can use your favourite characters. Sadly a lot of people I’ve met always use the same characters and don’t like it when you use something different. My Lisa for example can hit massive damage…but if people see me with her? They go raiden or yae (even though yae is barely different from Lisa) then demand I swap. It’s kinda sad. I miss the first year of genshin when people used a huge variety because we were all still learning.

Yeah, people really don't like when I bring Chongyun to co-op. I guess I'm lucky that my two mains (Venti and Kaeya) are looked upon favorably enough that I don't run into too many problems. Though bringing Venti occasionally causes someone to pull out their Kazuha 🙁

Honestly I appreciate this video so much. I understand that when people fine tune broken characters that they start thinking the abyss is a joke, but it's only a joke because of the amount of effort and saving they've done to ensure success. You take away a core part of the system and it quickly becomes a very hard challenge.

This reminds me of when dehya first came out and I had to actually think and work in order to make her viable, rather than just melt everything around me while sleepwalking through the game with my hyperbloom team. It made the game a lot more fun since I had to actually engage with it on an intellectual and mechanical level rather than just 'unga bunga big numbers hit bigger'.

Game is actually like this - to get acquinted with it properly and enjoy evolving combining strategizing etc. Before when gaming there were almost no ways and availability for buying in-game resources and it was great. Nowadays with all that money spending syndrome game is losing its purpose and colours..

My first time clearing (not even 36 star-ing) abyss was the beginning half of September. I've been playing since July 2022, just hit ar 58, and I'm f2p but every 5 star character I've managed to get is pretty broken (I have all the archons + kazuha). This video just put into perspective how much of a skill issue I have that I've been working on my "broken" characters nonstop and still only just managed to succeed after 14 months. That being said, I'm weirdly motivated after this? Yes I clearly have a skill issue but if you can do this literally anything is possible. So, in a roundabout way, thank you! Hopefully it won't be too long until both of us manage to get 36 stars lol

I absolutely love Layla, her skills are so pretty and her shield is one of the best besides Zhongli obviously. My main team currently is Layla, Yanfei, Rosaria and Koko, I just got Zhongli so sometimes he gets swapped in when I'm doing boss fights or facing scarier enemies. I somehow got c4 Bennett from that banner and the free copy we got (I didn't have him prior.)

this actually makes me appreciate hoyo a tad bit more too, considering you don't really lose much not being able to farm floor 12 and immense amount of content the game has with stories, world quests and world puzzles and treasure hunting. Any other publisher/dev with a gacha game I know would have made it nigh impossible to make progress in the game's late game content without whaling

Yea most gacha games have insane levels of power creep to try to force you to pull for the new characters if you want to keep clearing the end game content. Luckily in genshin that’s not necessary

Yeap exactly. New (gacha) games -by that I mean since last 10-7 years- are practically made to spend on it if you want a decent play at all. I've tried many games and got tired mostly after 1-2 weeks/months cause there's no content in there available for free if reaching certain level. Only Genshin preserved from older games that drive and policy of giving content to players for achievement/progression and not for money. I hope Genshin will stay like this and continue making us enjoy gaming in Teyvat)

Layla is amazing for "just a shielder", especially when she's teamed up with a decent hydro (not Barbara) character (I mostly use Ayato for the AOE burst combo). Collei is not bad for 4* Dendro, her boomerang is surprisingly useful, and while her AOE isn't as big as Traveller's, it does fire off faster, which is great for hyperbloom.

Great video. I wish this was around when I first started playing and wishing on every banner and spending money. I no longer play that account because Genshin is a different game if you have everything. It’s boring for ME. So I started a new account and I’m just using characters I got free and a couple I got just wishing on Noelle’s banner once because I like her. I’m struggling but it’s fun.

its possible to use the starter team and finish the in-game story content like the archon and world quests, i used to use the starter team with noelle all the way to sumeru, my luck was really bad but at least i did win my first 50/50, and sure i did wished for noelle but honestly even without her i would've still survived though a bit harder without the help of her shield and healing.

The fact that Genshin "unlocks" all 4 party members for you very early is really nice thing. I remember how I used to play Borderlands where you have your 4 weapon slots initially locked, and that means you need to re-learn every time you unlock new slot. Which, in my opinion, happens too late in the game. I'm happy Genshin decided against that.

I think now u know my pain, when I first started genshin in 2022 I was not informed about it basics and I just used to play it for fun so ofc I used to waste my primos on standard banner without knowing anything then I played a whole of mondstad, liyue with only (kaeya, aether, barbara and etc) then I quit in between for no content then came back during electro arcon update and still used the same and later when I grinded for artifacts then my friend said me to pull for only temporary banner, Then I realised shi

I'm doing this too! however, i gave myself access to the beginners banner only once i reached AR45, i now have Noelle & Beidou! now i have no wishing left. I'm currently AR55, very close to AR56. i can't wait for lantern right so i can have xingqiu finally! i chose yaoyao last time for dendro & healing. my absolute needed/wanted character is also fischl bc as much as i like beidou, i would prefer oz on the field instead. :(

Having high level well built characters really does make all the difference in the world. I remember when I had just started playing Genshin, I was about AR 15, and ruin guards were my worst nightmare. It would take me like twenty minutes to fight one and I would be hiding somewhere shooting at them as Amber and dodging the whole time cause she's really squishy. But then my AR 60 boyfriend came onto my world for co-op and we ran around the Sumeru desert with him one-shotting everything in sight. It was so fun to get to explore without worrying about getting my ass handed to me by some hilichurl camp. Now I'm AR 45 and while there's a lot of content in the game I do still struggle with, it doesn't take me an insane amount of time to beat any one enemy now. Plus I know what my characters are strong enough to fight and what I need help on.

I think...it's... just skill issue. I remember how scared i was facing a single ruin guard when i was low AR. Then i decided to make new account when i reached AR60. It was way easier than I remember. It's not like i can cheese them or oneshot them, it's just way easier to kill since I've already understand the game mechanics. You're actually better than me. AR45 is hardly high AR, i don't even bother to learn how genshin mechanic works until i reached AR55..lol

I tried this but only with the original 4 without collecting the free characters so my character screen only had 4 characters, but I think in Sumeru I decided to spend all my unused primos on weapon banner and didn't realize characters also dropped there. My biggest mistake but still decided to use only the OG4. I was able to clear the entire story as of current but like the issues you had with time limit in spiral abyss, there are some red key puzzles in the open world. Different journey, but even with Dendro Traveler with Mistsplitter Reforged, Kaeya with Aquila Favonia, +108.3% Physical DMG Amber with Skyward Harp, and Lisa with a Thousand Floating Dreams, there is still some over world content that is hard using onlg these characters.

I personally would've allowed Noelle to be used as well. You're guaranteed to get her so there's no RNG involved. You just need to clear enough content to get her, no different than clearing enough floors of Spiral Abys for Collei

When I started my new account, all I actually needed was Amber and Kaeya. Mostly Amber. At the very beginning I gave her the best weapons and artifacts, and she was great help if you use her properly (charged shots all the way baby, no fooling around with her silly auto-attack). Next stop was Xiangling from Abyss floor 3, at which point you basically won the game. She's a 6-star unit, I tell ya. You can get Barbruh for added comfort and Collei to use her for dendro element check, but XL and Kaeya is all you really have to build from now on.

I have a wishless account hat i actually play on more then my main account nowadays. the most difficult thing is or i guess now-was- not having bennet on my wishless account to buff my Chongyun for old-school National team. i gave the Abyss a couple runs after getting benny on my Wishless account and i nearly cleared Floor 11, the biggest issue now isn't so much dmg as my lack of a Crowd Controlling character. Maybe well get a free sucrose in the future. I made this account about a month after the release of the game and i always try to do events that give us free weapons and characters.

Yeah, looking at it objectively, I think Lisa is the best of the starter trio now. Kaeya's still fine, but Dendro(Hyperbloom specifically, but even Aggravate with Fischl's A4) gives Lisa an on-field driver presence with stupidly low investments for equally stupid high returns, surpassing even the ridiculousness that is Blizzard Strayer.

I mean, there is a player that has beaten whole Abyss with 25 AR account, which locked him at 50 level characters without second ascension talent, weapons at 50 level as well etc. And AR 25 can't even get many of the best free to play stuff, like Amenoma Kageuchi, which is locked behind AR 30. So it will be far easier with 90 lvl characters, even if they are the free characters You get. Also no wishing doesn't mean You can't claim free characters like Layla for example either.

@@taiyuuji123 tbh I feel I definitely should be able to clear as much as you since I started before you did but my problem is I don’t play much on that account. When I started, I would log in pretty often but I still had my main account that I focused more on. And now I play HSR too and have a wishing account and non wishing account there. I have 4 accounts and don’t have the time to play each one every single day. So I play my Genshin No wish once every couple of weeks or when there’s a character that they are giving away since it is kind of my priority of these accounts at the moment.

If we ignore the abyss completely as it's an optional content for molding and tryhards, the game is fairly easy without wishing at all. (considering 95% of the video focused on it alone). Even if it's a free game, you are still paying.. with your time instead of money.
