I beat this at a carnival. The time to beat was 120 seconds. The trick is since the bar spins put your hands in different directions when grabbing onto the bar. As you get closer to the end try not to pull up to readjust your grip, you will fall. Instead try to push through the pain and squeeze your hands closed and hope to win

I checked back this video and I will reiterate. I worked at an amusement park and ran this game. It's not a scam! The bar can't be bolted in one place because they're supposed to be adjustable, because it's not bolted into place, it will rotate and there's not much we can do about it. We actually want people to win, at least occasionally, so they market the game to others at the park. That being said they didn't let us play on our days off because we knew the strategies but If you want some tips here you go 1. Ask for the bar to go really high up and jump up not low to the ground. You want your legs to dangle so you don't move them around as much and throw off your balance. 2. Ask for the crowed cheer you on this helps more than you think. If you come with a girlfriend I've noticed people do a lot better 3. Dry wet hands. The moister can have you slip 4. Ask for the bar to be cleaned off so you don't have anyone else's sweat 5. Go when theres a cool breeze or later in the day 6. Practice at home

actually you can also make your hands like rope around the cylinder,instead of both of your hands to be sticking on the cylinder from back make one hand from back and one from front making you like tied rope but the only negative thing about it you will be facing the to the sides instead to the front of the camera,but i don't see a rule that forbids that so its allowed.
