Very inspiring story Alyson. You are doing a great job! I’m an adult learner. I started taking piano lessons again after many years of “learning” on my own. My teacher is great and I enjoy playing now more than ever. As you mentioned, you can only teach so much in 30 minutes. Your YT videos fill in the gaps for me. Thank you. 😊

Congrats on getting to 500+ subscribers! Good luck for more success. Your point about formal teaching in music theory changed and advanced you...I'd like to hear more about that. What do you really mean by using/understanding music theory other than identifying chord progressions and finding repeating patterns? And, since I'm no longer in high school so I can't take an AP Music Theory class, I'd like to hear some suggestions for adult, late beginner piano players to learn and discover what you did. I enjoyed your video and your story...I'll tune in when you produce more. I'll comment that having someone in your house who is about to throw a chair at a piano is scary and outrageous.

Interesting journey, Alyson. Really cool to hear about your epiphany with the student. Seems like you made the right choice -- you are a great teacher on video, and probably better with your in-person students.

Merci. Sounds like you're at the start of your journey. Maybe you should look at further education in music and piano? Never stop learning.
