Congratulations on learning Spanish in such a short time. I've been trying to learn English for about 26 years and I still don't speak it fluently, although I think I've improved a lot in the last two months.

The cleaning lady at my work came by every morning and would greet me in Spanish. I made the "mistake" of answering her in Spanish the first time. From then on all our conversations were in Spanish. My mom spoke Castilian Spanish, but growing up at home we always spoke English. Instead of shying away from talking to the cleaning lady, I decided to engage her in conversation each morning to practice speaking. My speaking has become a little better but what has improved even more was my listening, understanding, and thinking in Spanish. It made it easier for me to respond. I still make plenty of mistakes but we can have conversations. I can make her laugh through what I say and not how I say it. Frankly, conversational Spanish seems easier because you don't have to speak in complete sentences. She says my Spanish is very good even though I say I commit many errors, she disagrees. Makes me feel good about it and it was easier than I expected, to get this far. You just have to do it. Heck, I'm still learning things in English, I can't expect to know everything in Spanish.

I agree, you gotta speak a lot to really get it. I’m a half breed and still learning Spanish everyday. I didn’t really start truly learning until about 3 or 4 years ago but by the end of this year I’ll be fluent no doubt

As Nate says, an important key is "forcing" yourself to start and maintain conversations with native speakers. It can be painful, because most native speakers will assume you understand much more than you do, and dose you with rapid, not-well-enunciated conversational Spanish. Personally, I think there is an element of rudeness (or carelessness) to do that to an obvious gringo non-native speaker. But ya gotta push through with as many "Como?", "Mande?", "Otra vez", and "Despacio, por favor" as necessary.

How can i learn Argentine and Bogotan dialects of Spanish?
@iatecereal65544 ай бұрын
Ill assume you’re talking about the Rioplatense dialect (when saying Argentine). Which is also spoken in Uruguay. Spanish with Fede is a great youtuber who has made multiple high quality videos explaining the most distinctive features. A dictionary typa book i recommend is “Che Boludo!” By James Bracken. It has most of the slangs and phrases used in Argentina. What i recommend is also connecting with people from Argentina and just talking with them. You will catch on to a lot of stuff. Watch movies and shows from Argentina and Uruguay. One which i loved and was filmed beautifully is “Society of the snow” Take it one at a time and just talk a lot. It will be a flow and you will eventually come across much more content. Good luck with your process

I would recommend using applications like tandem or hellotalk to match with natives. You can talk with locals in those countries and help with their English or other languages

@@iatecereal6554 thanks for responding. As far as I know, Argentinian Spanish sounds like Italian as what almost all dialectal communities over the internet speak of, I am not sure if the entire Rioplatense has the same Italian sounding Spanish?

My funniest story with Spanish that I was trying to practice the phonetics with my headphones and I happen to shout “Hijo de p***” without knowing what I said and I got a strange look in the park and didn’t know why. It wasn’t until I discovered what I said that I knew😂
