You should always take Shadow Overlord first over Shadow Tyrant if you have the option. If you are winning it ends the game outright, whereas Shadow Tyrant doesn’t really do anything if you are already ahead in gold and levels over the enemy. You go from killing them easily to killing them a little more easily. On the other hand if you are ahead in gold and levels the Shadow Overlord will simply take all the enemy’s towers and their crystal and they won’t be able to stop it. You just walk it down mid and win.

This is true in most case, except in early game in low rank. Low elo players tends to fight alot, they don't care about objectives and wave management. The buffed minions kill the enemy minions very fast. So after the fight, usually your minions are still alive for enemy players to farm, but your teammates loose everything. This could singlehandedly loose you a game. Since early minion's gold and EXP make a big difference. So in Master or below, I prefer Tyrant over Overlord early game

@@compromises Yes that’s why I said Shadow Overlord/Tyrant. The ordinary Tyrant is better than the ordinary Overlord because the ordinary Overlord gives only a very little advantage in pushing towers. The ordinary vanguard are pretty weak and don’t take much to stop, and you are also correct that if your team are not on the ball with clearing waves, they will actually gift your enemy a gold lead. This is why when my team take overlord before 10 minutes I always make sure to clear at least two lanes per wave before joining a fight. If the enemy don’t clear the waves and take a 5v4 with your team, you will get a turret or two and 4 whole minion waves, which are worth way more than a couple of kills, putting you at a good gold lead over the enemy, and a positional advantage too after you take their turrets.

@@compromises also you needn’t say “low elo players” it happens in Mythic too. I used to think, “it will stop in plat,” it didn’t. I thought it would stop in diamond. It didn’t. I thought it would stop in masters. It did not. In GM? No such luck. I reached Mythic and by now I use it to my advantage. Team going to take stupid fights? Well I guess this 600 gold worth of minions is all mine then. Your team can lose 2 fights and you will be up almost 2,000 gold on anyone on the enemy team with tower gold and a couple of jungle camps thrown in, and then you can carry even if your team are good for nothing but cannon fodder.

​@@InceyWincey Totally agree! My bad for not recognizing "Shadow" though. I'm a new player. I just wonder how you could clear two lanes before joining the fight. Because most of my main heroes could only clear one lane before it's too late to join the fights. Besides, about teammates as cannon fodders, I used to think that way when playing other games, where some sh*tty players with negative win rate could climb to high elo, simply by playing alot. But now I don't view my teammates that way anymore. That's the mentality of someone who has to carry. That's stressing and takes away the fun of solo queue! It feels like HOK really put a lot of effort in educating players. So the result is in most of my GM and Mysthic games, I have at least one teammate who knows how to play and really wants to win. So I can just do my part: being a threat, be as annoying as possible, never die, and objectives over everything else. Most of the time, it only takes my teammates to do they part and win once for us to be able to snow ball into a victory

@@theDYSKYZ HOK was originally released in China, it's been there since 2015 I believe, HOK global version has only been released this year and compared to the Chinese version, there are less veterans and less heroes/skins. They update the game quite frequently tho and don't mind these ill will comments you did great
